AT&T Atrix 4G Speed Test!

Wondering how fast AT&T’s new 4G network is?

Well, I’ve got proof here to show you how fast it is.  Download speeds average around 2-3Mbps, not bad but the bad part is that your upload speeds never go above 400kbps in my testings.

Also, AT&T is very spotty for both 3G and 4G.  Sometimes, I get crawling speeds of 300-500kbps download even with full bars and sometimes I get 2-3Mbps.

That is actually problem with all the 4G networks but Sprint’s WiMax 4G and Verizon’s LTE are better in my experience.

For example, if

WiMax Speed Test in Las Vegas!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVmymb1PXbc

Probably the most exciting technology of this year will be WiMax rolling out in the U.S.  Many cities in the U.S. already have launched WiMax in full service including Las Vegas.  At CES 2010, I got to test WiMax hands-on at the Motorola booth, using one of their latest 4G WiMax USB dongles.

In the simple test, I was able to get a 2Mbps download and 3.36Mbps upload.  This might not seem like very fast but at CES 2010, broadband speeds and even wired internet was simply horrible because people all over the world (who use a

Virgin Airlines WiFi Speed Test!

As promised before my venture at CES 2010, I did do a bunch of speed tests on my flight from San Francisco to Las Vegas.  It was a rather short flight of one and a half hours but it was enough time for me to do a bunch of speed tests at different locations (I mean location of speed tests).

On average, I did get about 0.22 to 0.50Mbps download speed and upload stayed same around 0.23Mbps.

It was pretty zippy to do most of web browsing but you probably don’t want to upload anything over those networks.

I think in the future airline WiFi speeds should get faster and

Virgin Airlines Speed Test

So, I am actually on a flight from San Francisco to Las Vegas for the CES 2010 show, live blogging from Virgin and Google’s free WiFi.  I did couple speed tests as shown in below screen shots, the upload speed actually isn’t too bad, just download isn’t super fast.  Still, most of sites loaded fairly fast and comparable to a USB broadband card, perhaps bit slower.

I am also uploading a short video clip of the speed test so watch out for that too.

Network DIY – How to Choose the Right Network for Your iPhone or Palm Pre!

PCWorld has recently conducted an unbiased data test for the 3 big cellular providers Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T.

The results are not shocking as AT&T had the most unreliable service, meaning you could get fast download speeds in your bathroom while you might even struggle to get connection while you drive.

On the bright side, Verizon and Sprint came out on top for reliability, which is probably the most important factor in choosing the fastest data network for your smartphone, iPhone, or P
