Arduino DIY – How to Make a Magic Mirror with Old LCD and Arduino!

Al Linke, the creator of the DIY Magic Mirror, has just buzzed me on his cool Magic Mirror, which was featured on Instructables as winner of the Halloween contest.

Well, I don’t know how I missed it if it was on Instructables but here it is and Al is actually selling kits you can buy to make a magic mirror yourself.

I have to say, this is really cool stuff, I think I have seen something similar, the Magic Message mirror

Arduino Hack – How to Read Wii Motion Plus with Arduino!

I just got my hands on the new Tiger Woods 2010 for the Wii, which comes with a Wii Motion Plus.  Well, I have it sitting on my dining table but I guess someone found out how to read the data off the Wii Motion Plus.  Great timing although I have no use for it.

Ok so I, after much research, have been able to read the gyro data of the new wii motion plus peripheral with the arduino microcontroller. With this code and the code previously developed for the wii nunchuck (here), we are able

Circuits DIY – How to Make a Weather Station!

Here’s an impressive weather station project you can make that will show you bunch of great current weather conditions.  I do highly like the graph part, it can be developed even further to allow internet remote monitoring and more.

Now this was a huge project! All sensors had to be fully tested one at a time, wireless communication had to be perfect, various LCDs were tried. Nevertheless, here’s the result: hope you enjoy it!

The circuit may be powered by a small 9V b

Autonomous Robotic Fish On Its Way to Fish Out Pollution!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eO9oseiCTdk

An autonomous Robotic fish is on its way to fish out pollution.  With the increasing number of toxic waste in our waters, it seems that a robotic solution is necessary and the researchers from University of Essex are working around the clock to develop this cool fish that can use its sensors to determine any pollutants that are present.

These robot fish will relay the location of contaminants via Wi-Fi underwater and they can assimilate with other fish.  Using GPS, they can also navigate themselv

DIY Hack – How to Make Web Based Teleprensence Robot!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InDvVMNB8WM

Here’s a fun little project that shows you how to make an web-based robot that can be controlled remotely via the internet. THe main computer is used as web-control system while Make Controller is used to interface the computer to the servo motors attached.

Of course, I do feel that a real PC and the big screen is overkill, but kudos for making such a simple assembly using easy to find software like Sky

Border Patrol Bots!

Well, it wasn’t too long ago that BAE systems were rumored to work on insect-like robots for the military.  Now, BAE systems have developed Border Patrol Bots that can go under trucks, equipped with sensors, and practically allow travelers to move along faster while increasing security.

I think it’s a good idea I guess, just don’t tell me any of my tax money is going into it.  THEN, I’d have to ask the government to stop doing it as I don’t want to spend money on border patrollization.

With so many people I kn

Bipedal Lawn Mowing Robot is Slow and has no obstacle sensors…

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv61MzF1n7k

Here’s a cool bipedal robot that’s in the works

ne Mega-Dynamizer robot, one lawnmower, one lawn. Result: “nice try: bring on Version 2.0” The video is from Sugiura-san, creator of the Mega Dynamizer and ROBO-ONE champion roboticist. And while the robot doesn’t whizz about confidently like a Roomba for grass, probably doing a pretty patchy mow and taking that unfortunate tumble, it’s pretty impressive for a first attempt

Speech Controlled Wheel Chair

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDvF975JVMQ

I believe speech controlled wheel chairs have been around for years but here’s a DIY version.

[Amnon] sent in this demo of his groups voice controlled wheel chair. I couldn’t find any details, but sometimes just a demo is enough to find some new inspiration. They connected a hm2007 speech recognition kit to an Innovation FIRST controller board on an electric wheel chair chasis. Additional sensors detect stairs and other obstacles.

DIY Electric Unicycle that Balances itself!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cC9cdIUiOqU

Woohoo, I need a unicycle like this one!

The UNIQUECYCLE is an upgraded GEN2 unicycle featured below. It has been boosted to a 60V system yielding in excess of 1000W. The NiMh battery system has been replaced by SLA technology. The SLA is lower cost, easier to recharge and handles regeneration and peak current demands effectively. The higher voltage results in higher top-end speed. Speed overhead is critical for safety in order to maintain balance during road disturb
