Top 5 DIY Segways and How to Make Segway From Scratch!

Over the years, segway has been slowly gaining popularity, I’ve seen them used everywhere around where I live including malls (where security guards use them inside the mall), and even my own apartment complex’s security guards, who zoom by my apartment on a daily basis.

Well, segways are great but are they worth paying for?  What if you wanted to build your own segway?

We’ve featured a slew of great segway DIYs here on Zedomax.com, let me re-cap some of them and also new ones I have found that will teach you how to build your own segway from scratch.

Segway DIY – How to Build a Legway, the Poor Man’s Segway!

I personally think Segways can be useful in some highly populated areas such as downtown San Francisco/LA/New York, but these things are probably a waste of resources otherwise.  If you cannot afford a real segway, there’s a much more eco-friendly option of building your own  “Legway”, it doesn’t really work well on turns but heck, sure beats buying a segway for no reason.

GM and Segway’s P.U.M.A!

Looks like against all the liability issues, GM and Segway has allowed the Gizmodo team to take a ride in their new P.U.M.A.

My first thoughts?  I would NEVER ride in that thang, it’s too small. (That’s my first honest reaction.)  I doubt that people over 200 pounds can even fit in that thing nevermind getting stuck.  But a great idea, sorta the next-level version of Segway.  To me it seems more like a miniature version of a golf cart or o

Toyota’s Segway Killer – The Toyota Winglet!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AA3MX7pzdk0

Check out this cool Toyota Winglet, pretty much a miniture-version of the Segway.  This Winglet might do really well since it’s smaller and perhaps cheaper than Segway.

Winglet is powered by an electric motor, these Winglets are capable of up to 3.73mph or 6km/h for up to 6.2 miles or 10km in the case of the L or M models, or half that in the case of the smaller S version.  You control the Winglet by leaning in the direction you wish to move.  The Toyota Winglet takes an hour to fully recharge.

Toyota is planning to s

Chinese SWAT Team trains on Segways

Here’s a humorous pose of the Chinese SWAT team practicing on segways. (Or maybe it was a scene in the movie shooting…)

I really think this is a really good idea as parts of busy Chinese metropolitan streets will let the segway travel much faster than anything other than motorcycles and bikes.

As for shooting shot guns from a segway, I’d have to say you need more training though.

Segway on Steroids?

Here’s a great concept super segway.  I wonder if it will be even legal to ride this thing if it goes 75mph…

What’d ya think?

If constructed, the designer believes that it could achieve a top speed of 75 mph (0-60mph in 3 seconds) with a recharge time of 15 minutes and cycle time of 1 hour.
