DIY – How to Make a Cool Table with Old Magazines!

Recently, I have been actually looking for a table to buy a table for a small spot that needs one.  With this DIY, I will be able to make a new small table with some of my old magazines I’d throw away eventually anyways.

I like the concept, of re-using magazines for DIY furnitue design.  The most amazing part is that it requires very little hardware.

If there’s anything we have too many of in our apartment, it’s magazines and plants. So we solved the problem by re-purposing six magazines (and that’s all you needR

EcoJohn – Eco Toilet Incinerates your Poop!

This has to be the coolest eco-frienldy device for taking a dump.  It’s an Eco Toilet that works by incinerating your poop to white powder.  Even better, the incinerated poop can be used for adding nutrition to your plants.

With the Eco Toilet in the works, we will no longer need long septic pipes to our houses, just one little toilet that does the job for you.

Of course, I have not tested this unit.  The only thing I am afraid of is the fact that it’s going to smell somew

House DIY – How to Build A Motorized Window Blind Controller!

Here’s a cool DIY documenting how you can build a motorized window blind controller just under $15.

For a long time I just waited until I got home in the afternoons to open my blinds, but my plants suffered from a lack of light. They were not dying by any means, but they were not healthy, and their growth was severely stunted. I needed to find a way to open and close my blinds automatically when I was not at home.

Interactive Scape Multi-Touch Surface Desk makes you Super-Powerful and others Jealous!

If you ever happened to own one of these Interactive Scape multi-touch surface desks, your friends might start calling you more often and asking to come over.  (Now, just make sure to ask them to bring some buds and other potluck plants/dishes.   I tend to prefer the plants more but beer works too.)

DIY – How to Install a Rain Tank and Re-use Rain water!

video://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-3277343386618355445&hl=en

Here’s a really simply way to re-use your rain gutter water for feeding your plants.

Why didn’t I think of this before?

Rain tanks collect and store rain water, and they’re a viable green alternative for lawn maintenance since landscaping represents a huge drain on water resources. Erin’s tank directs water from her gutters into a storage system that will support her lawn and garden.

Water Catcher Umbrella, Brilliant!

Check out this water catcher umbrella concept.  From the picture it seems like you can even plant the whole thing to grow some plants.

Well, I think if they can further take their idea into using the water as stabilization for the umbrella itself or make it steam out during a hot day, that’d be somethin’.

As you can see from the design there is a dip in the centre of the canopy where the water is directed, the material is specially made from compostable polylactic acid plast

Roly Poly Pot – Plant that falls over when it need water

Check out this cool pot that falls over when it needs water. Pretty simple concept, well made!

Just like people, plants fall over when they begin to die from thirst but unlike people, plants can’t verbally communicate when they need watering. That’s where the Roly-Poly Pot comes in. Using water a a counterweight, the pot slowly tips over when water levels are low. The cool thing is each pot can be adjusted to work with any plant’s watering needs. Neat idea but still a concept for now.

DIY HACK – Deer Repellent

Here’s a cool Deer Repellent for those of you with deers on your front yard that eat up your plants. But just turn it off on Christmas so Rudolph the Raindeer doesn’t get scared.

My original “Deer Repellent/ Seismic Sensor” recommended using a speaker with a weight glued to the cone as a vibration sensor (see bottom of page) but it recently occurred to me that the speaker could supply the mass itself. By gluing
