GIANT Tesla Coils at Maker Faire!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6U8_yrxq000

Probably the best part about Maker Faire was Arc Attack’s GIANT tesla coils. I didn’t have chance to film the whole thing but above is just a bit of what happened in 1080P HD.

There’s actually a guy in the middle if you look carefully inside some kind of “safe” box, I guess it’s pretty safe to be in there other than the high voltage just screaming about everywhere else.

Giant DIY Crayon Rockets!

You thought crayons were just for kids and drawing, think again as this guy has made giant DIY crayon rockets that actually take off pretty darn far.

A Crayon is 93mm (3.66″) long and 9mm (0.35″) thick, overall. The outer paper wrapping (construction paper) is about .5mm thick, so the ends of the Crayon are actually thinner than the body. To build this into the rockets, I needed a nosecone with the transitions and a tail section with a thickness reduction. In the diagram below, the gray area indi

Got a Big House? How about a GIANT DIY Strobe Array?

Check out this all-graciously extravagant DIY GIANT strobe array that will fill your nights with hours of dancing and fun (with chics).

The Strobe Array needs 2 DMX channels to be controlled: one to select the pattern (a value of 0 is a null pattern) and another channel to set the speed at which the pattern is to be displayed. Unfortunatly, it was getting quite complex to control the exact strobing effect of each strobe. To keep things simple, I simply soldered a small 12V relay inside each strobe which shorts t

iPhone DIY – How to Make Giant iPhone Kitchen Tablet!

Here’s a great idea for your kitchen, make one of these GIANT iPhone kitchen tablets. Of course, it runs on Windows but it’s probably easier that way. I think these could also be great for storing recipes and also watching YouTube how-to cooking videos while you cook. I am definitely going to be building myself one of these in the future.

For years my wife has been on at me to put a computer into the kitchen where she can manage her recipes, shoppin

GIANT Solar-Powered iPhone/iPod Dock!

For those Apple fanboys who also tend to keep a good modern, stylish home, you might want to consider this $2,299 GIANT solar-powered iPhone/iPod dock that will let you recycle the power of the sun and use its 60-watt equivalent speakers to output some stereo music.  I know, this is going overboard and I probably wouldn’t get it (for this outlandish price) but perhaps some of you have money waiting to burn on stuff like this. (I rather spend it on a

GIANT SpongeBob SquarePants!

One of my favorite TV shows now is (believe it or not) SpongeBob and SquarePants.  Anyways, I was looking for a GIANT SpongeBob Square Pants as I saw one today over at Fishermen’s Wharf in San Francisco.

Amazon offers like 2 different giant SpongeBob SquarePants pillows and 1 Patrick Starfish pillow.  (The prices are not bad so these might be super-great gifts for your kids/babies.)

GIANT 18″ SpongeBob SquarePants –

LED Hack – How to Make Giant LED Lamp to Replace Flourescent!

Rememnber, the contest for LED desklamp with digital photo frame ending in like 10 minutes.

Even if you don’t win, you might be surprised to learn that you can make your own giant LED lamp to replace a flourescent lamp in your garage.  This is great since LEDs are way more efficient plus they are super-brighter too.

To power it up, connect a 12V 1A power supply to the lamp ensuring that polarity is correct. You will be amazing by the bright white light that comes from this tube.

Fish Tank DIY – How to Make a CRT Aquarium!

Here’s a genius idea for your fish, an aquarium made out of on old CRT monitor!  Instead of throwing those heavy bastards away, now you can recycle them into nice, stylish homes for your lovable fish.

Talk about a great screen saver! I’ve been wanting to do this build for a while now. Just about every time I see and old CRT computer monitor by the side of the road on trash day I think to myself …that would sure make a cool looking fish tank. So here is my first attempt at turning and old computer monitor into a fish tank.

Big Ass Digital Wall Clock!

Here’s a giant digital wall clock that will let you substitute an LCD TV.

The Big Time Digital Wall Clock is probably one of the more futuristic and striking looking clocks available. Being 100 x 50cms in size you will soon notice the time and probably take a second look as this would not look out of place on the wall next to the big screen in NASA.

Made from lightweight materials, flat and flexible is is easy to hang in your office or b

Nokia E71 Confirmed for Production!

Nokia E71 looks so much like Blackberry 8830 I’ve got here, perhaps slimmer. If the price is right, Nokia E71 might not be a bad choice.

The E71 is one of the thinnest phones we’ve ever seen exit the doors of the Finnish giant, at 10mm thick, but there’s still plenty of room for everything you’d expect out of an E series phone like WiFi, HSDPA, A-GPS and even a 3.2 megapixel camera and a front facing camera for video chat — the main place the E71 differs on specs from its new E66 sibling is the 2.36-inch QVGA screen,
