Eye-Fi – an SD card that catches thieves!

Lol… make sure to check the SD card label before you hook it up to your computer.

The Eye-Fi hooks up to the internet and sends your photos to either an online sharing site or directly back to your home machine. In this case it was the latter, and the hapless thief not only sent the precious vacation shots back to Alison’s computer, but — according to the email we received from Gadget Lab reader Joe Volat — “pictures [of] the thieves proudly displaying Alison’s lifted camera equipment”.

RailRunner for all your Trainwreck desires!

Now here’s a gadget that would match really well with some trainwreck…

The Rail Runner can accommodate up to 4 people (it can support about 1,200 pounds when sitting on a set of tracks) but can actually be powered by a single rider since it only weighs around 140 pounds thanks to an aluminum frame and polyurethane wheels. The base version of the Rail Runner comes with 2 seats and a price tag of $1,950 but you can add the optional ‘deck’ in the back with 2 additional seats for $135, and a sun canopy for another $165.

The USB powered LED CD lamp is a very useful gadget. It’s powered by the USB port, so you don’t need any external power supply. The stiff mounting wire, I used acts as a gooseneck and lets you bend the light source in different angles and directions.
