Wow, I have been hearing news about Neda, this 27 year old girl who got shot and killed in Iran for protesting.  I think there’s got to be someone who’s going to have to step up and end this merciless bs by the Iranian government.

This isn’t a political war any more, it’s about human rights. You don’t kill a girl for protesting peacefully, no matter what she’s protesting about, especially if she has no weapons to fight back.

Dirt-Powered Alarm Clock!

We did see the dirt-powered soil lamp earlier, here’s another dirt-powered device, it’s an alarm clock that can be powered via dirt and you can even grow some nice fairway grass in it.

This the called the timeless garden and it runs mud or rather the chemical reaction between the mud and the metal casing inside the clock, how good is that it just doesn’t get any better than that for alarm clocks anyway. The actual body is made from two recycled plastic bottles.

Dirt-Powered Soil Lamp!

We’ve seen a slew of solar-powered lamps in the last couple years but this is the very first time “dirt”, (yes, the stuff that’s on your ground) has been used to power a lamp.  We wonder how long this will go, specifically when it will be available to the consumers.

The soil lamp uses the chemical reaction between copper, zinc, and slightly moistened mud to create enough electrical current to power an LED lamp. More cells can be used to create a brighter light

Lamp DIY – How to Make Threaded LED Tealight Cover!

Do you need that extra “cool” look to your home?  Then consider making one of these threaded LED tealight covers.  You can bypass that smelly candle and make it extra fuzzy and warm by adding these custom tealight covered lampts to you home.

I was messing around with different materials trying to dress up a little LED tealight, and this is one of the versions I ended up liking (plus it’s dirt cheap since it’s just thread!). I love me some textures. This may be useful for those with wedding venues that don’t allow real flames.

With Europe going crazy with RoHS and lead-free-ness, we are still polluting the earth with over 500,000 pounds of lead each year over here in the U.S. from lead wheel weights that go on cars.

Why is this so important?
