The other day, I had the pleasure of enjoying/installing native Ubuntu on my new EeePad Transformer Android tablet. It’s not complete by any means but the keyboard is working, touchscreen is working, and it’s fairly fast.

The Galaxy Tab 10.1 with Honeycomb Android 3.1 is available for pre-order from BestBuy.com as of this morning. It’s sorta pricey at 16GB going for $499 and 32GB for $599 but if you need to get the best of the best, this is one of the better 10.1″ tablets you can get right now (although I prefer the Eee Pad Transformer with attachable keyboard).

It seems pretty clear now virtually everyone including Samsung, LG, Archos, and even BestBuy are launching their own branded Android tablets like real soon, perhaps as early as end of this year.
