Lady Ada has done it again!  I still remember when I first met her at the Maker Faire couple years back, very nice lady indeed who keeps stirring up really cool DIY kits.

Here’s her latest Russian VFD alarm clock kit, it features vaccuum flourescent tube and open-source platform so you can hack it all you want.

iTalk Talking Alarm Clock!

Here’s a cool idea for an alarm clock that will talk back to you.  The thing I like most about the talking alarm clock is that you can give it commands to keep snoozing or set the alarm instead of banging your alarm clock and killin’ it.

The iTalk needs 3 AAA batteries to power its huge 2 inch numbers. You should be able to get the iTalk from many retail outlets in a few months. That’s about as specific as my source will say, but it will definitely hit Amazon.com in June, with a suggested retail price of $49.99.

Dirt-Powered Alarm Clock!

We did see the dirt-powered soil lamp earlier, here’s another dirt-powered device, it’s an alarm clock that can be powered via dirt and you can even grow some nice fairway grass in it.

This the called the timeless garden and it runs mud or rather the chemical reaction between the mud and the metal casing inside the clock, how good is that it just doesn’t get any better than that for alarm clocks anyway. The actual body is made from two recycled plastic bottles.

Space Invader Alarm Clock!

Too bad this Space Invaders Alarm Clock may only be available in Asia but I would love to think about the idea of getting up in the morning killing some space invaders…

When this alarm goes off, there is no buzz or bell sound, not you get the sound of space invaders how cool is that, but image what your new girlfriend is going think before letting it go off at the weekend.

Here’s a really cool NES Hack that involves installing an alarm clock inside the SNES.  Of course, you can even use the joystick to set the time, which gets double-whammy thumbs up.
