Shape-Shifting Robot Re-Assembles Itself and Dis-Assembles…

Lol….this robot is funny… basically it re-assembles then dis-assembles. Very pointless robot that could be applied for a robot with an important task.

Composed of 15 modules arranged in groups of five, each of CKbot’s clusters have a module with a 20fps camera, a blinking LED, and a accelerometer to reconstruct the entire robot, tied by magnets. Each of the other 12 modules have an embed

DIY – How to build your own G-Force Meter!

Remember I did a G-Force Meter couple years ago? Here’s another cool DIY G-Force meter. The only difference it that it uses 7-segment display and a PIC18F series microcontroller.

After seeing so many applications using acceleromters making a simple project of my own with this cool sensor just seemed natural. The main application of the accelerometer is either for sensing tilt or sensing acceleration. For this application A G-Force met

Quake 3 on the iPhone or iPod Touch!

Wow, I am gonna have to try this on my iPod Touch!

Quake 3 Arena has yet to be matched (some will argue I know) by any first person shooter game on the market as far as speed, multiplayer gameplay, and overall FPS experience. Rocket arena was my forté. Now, Quake 3 has been ported to the iPhone. Movement is triggered by the iPhone’s accelerometer (you have to physically tilt and rotate the iPhone). Personally I think this is super cool, and I can’t wait to see if they add the ability to strafe jump.

Wii DIY HACK – Using your Wiimote to measure your car’s acceleration!

Although this is an awesome Wii hack using GlovePie and the Wiimote, you could probably do this a lot easier using a simple 3-axis accelerometer and a microcontroller.

I got this idea after seeing some physics class use the wiimote in some kinda pendulum experiment.

Why not use the wiimote’s built in 3-axis accelerometers t

Zedomax Maker Faire 2007 Coverage – Electric Skateboard

Check out this cool electric skateboard these guys made. Thanks Frank for letting me get on it. I was about to take off with it to my house… It’s an electric skateboard that goes forwards and backwards by simply putting your weight towards where you want to go. It seems to be using some kind of accelerometer. If they start selling these to kids, these would be way more cool than any Segways for sure.

Check out MetroMotive.com for more information. (A

Bluetooth Accelerometer

Check out this PIC based bluetooth accelerometer that you can use for your future wireless accelerometer applications.

This is a small wireless sensor platform providing a bluetooth SPP link to three axes of accelerometer data. The accelerometers are sampled by a PIC microcontroller (onboard ADC) at roughly 100Hz (rate can be changed via firmware). Data from the ADC conversion is sent to a remote computer using the PIC’s U
