Palm Pre Hack – How To Install a WordPress Blog Website on a Palm Pre!

You know, I haven’t had this much “hacking” fun since I first started this site.  I just figured out how to install a WordPress blog on my Palm Pre!  It runs really well btw but I can’t tell you the domain name since Sprint might cancel my contract if too many people start accessing it.

Anyways, I’ve written a detailed DIY guide over at Palm Pre Hacks Blog, make sure to check it out if you plan on taking your website with you at all times.

P.S. I am sure there will be one day technology gets so good that my blog will run on a cellphone.

Mobile DIY – How to Boost Cellphone Signals in Your Car!

Today, I find a great spot near the SF Bay where the winds blog and I can enjoy the outdoors while working on my netbook inside my car.  Well, one of the problems I encountered was that the spot didn’t get great cellular signals for my Sprint broadband card.  It was one of those remote locations where I got 1xRT instead of EDVO Rev A signals.

There’s actually a lot of ways you can boost your voice/data cellular signals such as a mobile cellula

Palm Pre Hack – How to SSH into a Palm Pre!

howto-ssh-palm-pre-2

Here’s a write-up I did over at my new Palm Pre Hacks blog on how to SSH into a Palm Pre.  Check it out if you got a Palm Pre and ahead of the curve. 🙂

The second day I got the Palm Pre, I was able to SSH into my own Palm Pre and also make it into a WiFi Router.  Of course, this is usual business for me as I manage about 30+ web servers on a daily basis.  If I see a linux machine, the first thing I want to do is SSH into it.

The Best Grid, VPS, and Dedicated Server Web Hosting Review!

Over the last couple weeks, I have been doing a little “host” shopping, jumping from hosting company to another, thus Zedomax.com went down a lot. (Sorry about that, sometimes in life, you need to keep searching until you find the best deals.)

So, I’ve actually narrowed it down to 3 companies that provide the best “cloud/grid”, “VPS”, and dedicated servers.

This review is based on the 30+ blogs I manage, each of blogs getting anywhere from 100 to 20,000 pagesviews each.

In the end, I found that each hosting company had its stren

USB Mini Can Humidifier Ionizer Review!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpsrRGkBnmk

Here’s a hands-on review of the USB Mini Can Humidifier Ionizer from BudgetGadgets.com.  It’s a really cool little device as the Can Ionizer will purify the air around your office while providing a purified, ionized mist.  I really like it a lot since I smoke in my kitchen, this should help clean up the air quite a bit while I do gadget reviews and whatnot.  (Thanks Meka for the free sample!)

The fog of PC/Car Humidifier will neutralize with the s

Network DIY – How to Choose the Right Network for Your iPhone or Palm Pre!

PCWorld has recently conducted an unbiased data test for the 3 big cellular providers Verizon, Sprint, and AT&T.

The results are not shocking as AT&T had the most unreliable service, meaning you could get fast download speeds in your bathroom while you might even struggle to get connection while you drive.

On the bright side, Verizon and Sprint came out on top for reliability, which is probably the most important factor in choosing the fastest data network for your smartph

Parenting DIY – How to Get your Kids to Do What You Want Them To Do!

Here’s a simple advice for parents out there who are trying to motivate their kids to do things such as sports.

1. Do not “force” your children to do what you want them to do.

2. Make your kids “hungry” about things you want them to do.

3. Find a way to make your kids have “fun” on the things you want them to do.

4. Once they are having “fun”, make them stop even if they cry or whine.  This will make them “hungry” the next time they do the same thing.

5. Wait a couple days and repeat steps

Fridge DIY – How to Convert a Chest Freezer into a Refrigerator!

Here’s a super, innovative way to convert a chest freezer into a highly, efficient refrigerator.  (See PDF schematics here.)

My chest fridge (Vestfrost freezer turned into a fridge) consumes about 0.1 kWh a day. It works only about 2 minutes per hour. At all other times it is perfectly quiet and consumes no power whatsoever. My wind/solar system batteries and power-sensing inverter simply

Circuit DIY – How to Make a Tilt Measuring Inclinometer!

Here’s a really cool DIY that shows you how to make a tilt measuring inclinometer.   I do highly like how Nicholas Kwan didn’t use an accelerometer but used cheaper, basic circuit parts.  This could be the “alternative” way to put an accelerometer function in your projects without spending much money but with a LM555 timer chip.

The idea behind this was to design a capacitor using a petri-dish and aluminum foil covering half the petri-dish and using water as the dielectric. Beca
