Where does Oil Come From? Where does Oil Go?

Here’s a rather interesting chart that shows where the world oil comes from and where it goes.  Of course, this points out that a good majority (over 25%) of U.S.’s oil comes from its offshore drilling.  Not that they should keep doing that though, I hope they clear that BP mess up soon and start finding alternative ways for energy.

Mattress DIY – How to Make a Circle Memory Foam Mattress!

For those of you who are about to throw away your old memory foam mattress, don’t as there’s ways to salvage it and re-make it into a custom-fit circle mattress or even a custom sofa.

In this Instructable I’ll show you how I made my foam mattress round from one side, and also made the support it had underneath match the mattress. I don’t know how to modify a normal bed frame to match a custom mattress, my bed support comes from a construction site’s lifting pallets.

Kevin Costner’s Oil-Water Separation Machine could Help Clean the Oil Spill!

Check out this video demo of Kevin Costner’s brother’s company that makes oil-water separation machines that could help clean the oil spill.

The technology was created by Costner’s brother, with the actor pumping in $20m over 15 years. While 40,000 barrels worth of oil is leaking into the gulf of Mexico each day, the V20 machine can clean up 200 gallons of water a minute.

Homemade DIY Wind Turbine!

These nice young folks in Ecuador have built their own homemade DIY wind turbine, looks awesome and what a great way to create energy!

We wanted to make a wind turbine from easy-to-find materials and using simple tools. The rationale for this is that the generator should be easily reproducible by anyone. Rubik’s Cube Gadget Charger [Design Concept]

Check out this nifty design of a “Rubik’s Cude” gadget charger that will turn your efforts of solving the puzzle into electricity to re-charge your gadgets.  I don’t know how practical that would be but certainly reminds me of the Bloom Box.  If the design could be further developed into more efficient transfer of energy from motion to electricity, this could be a potential production material.

Check out these awesome array of beer glasses that have been given new life by being re-blown into stylish glass cups.  Pack of 6 glasses are about $60, way over-priced for me to consider buying one but still, this is great idea that a company is recycling bottles into works of art, re-usable stylish glasses.
