Gelsight – New 3D Surface Sensing Material!

Just when you thought fingerprint sensors was cutting-edge technology, Gelsight comes along, a new 3D surface sensing material that can detail at even microscopic levels.

Gelsight has many applications such as using it as a 3D scanning sensor and even find out the small details in a bullet mark. This is pretty top-notch stuff, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it implemented in future 3D fingerprinting applications. See Gelsight.com for more details.

NASA’s Swift Satellite Spots Blackhole Consuming a Star!

Have you ever thought if blackholes did really exist in space and if they would ever be used for time travel?

Well, I have, I am certain time travel is possible in the future, at least slowing down time is theoretically possible by quantum physics.

So, are blackholes real though?

Watch NASA’s Swift Satellite that spots a blackhole consuming a star!

In late March 2011, NASA’s Swift satellite alerted astronomers to intense and unusual high-energy flares from a new source in the constellation Draco. They soon realized that the source, wh

How to Make a DIY Nuclear Reactor and Neutron Gun!

*Note – This is for informational purposes only, we are not responsible if you turn your house into a nuclear waste filled with radioactive materials.

For those of you who might be interested in learning how a nuclear reactor, you might want to take a look at this video that explains how to make a DIY nuclear reactor from household radioactive materials.

According to the author, element thorium can be found in old latern mantels. Simply get as many latern mantels, blow torch them into power, mix the powder with lithium from lithium battery, wrap it up in

Does the Moon Pull the Water From the Ocean?

I got up at 4AM today and found the beautiful full moon setting, do they call that “moonset”? Well, that got me thinking about how the ocean tide works and me questioning myself, “does the moon pull water from the ocean?” or is it the other way around? I know moon has some gravitational/magnetic pull on earth but is that strong (stronger than the sun) enough to pull waters? Or the sun doesn’t have much magnetic pull because it’s much farther away from the earth than moon?

I decided to do some research so my brain gets smarter.

DIY Magnet Eddy Current Simulator Makes You Want to Poop in Your Pants!

Here’s the most amazing, DIY magnet machine you will see in a long time, this device simulates Eddy Current using toy magnets.  The author built it for his father-in-law’s birthday, I think he should start selling DIY kits so every else can build one.  This is much better than those useless machines we’ve seen for sheezy.

Physics DIY – How to Make a Macro Particle Accelerator!

Ever since I took Physics in college (let me just tell you high school Physics was boring) and learned about quantum mechanics where if you can travel at the speed of light you can go to the future (really), it has intrigued me how it can affect our everyday lives.

For those of you wannabe be world’s-top-physicists (and perhaps you will build the first time machine), here’s a cool macro particle accelerator, that works just like a particle accelerator that scientists use to send particles at almost speed of light except on a ping ball.

Tooth Regeneration May Be Possible for Cavities!

Scientists have verified that a gel or thin film that contains a peptide known as MSH, or melanocyte-stimulating hormone, may be used to regenerate tooth and used for growing back your tooth where cavities once lay.

This is great news for all of you who hate going to the Dentist, it might actually be a fun experience once again!

The gel or thin film contains a peptide known as MSH, or melanocyte-stimulating hormone. Previous experiments, reported in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, showed that MSH encourages bone regeneration.

Bone and teeth are fair

Where does Oil Come From? Where does Oil Go?

Here’s a rather interesting chart that shows where the world oil comes from and where it goes.  Of course, this points out that a good majority (over 25%) of U.S.’s oil comes from its offshore drilling.  Not that they should keep doing that though, I hope they clear that BP mess up soon and start finding alternative ways for energy.

What Would Happen if Earth was Hit by an Asteroid? [HD Video]

Have you ever wondered what would happen to planet Earth if we were to be hit with an asteroid?

This HD video shows you what it would be like, although I sorta doubt that asteroid would actually make it through the atmosphere.

What do you think?
