Kenguru, the Car For Wheelchairs!

I know one of my best friends dad is handicapped and uses a wheelchair.  Of course, he can drive but he must wait and wait for the automatic reclining machine every time he gets on and off his van.

Well, there’s a solution for that, the Kenguru, car for wheelchairs.   The downside is that it only fits one person but might be great way to get around town.

I have a personal friend who has paralysis since he was 18. Being around such a person makes me feel like I am so lucky to have both of my legs and I have always wished there was technology to help my friend walk again.

Student Invents a DIY Wiimote Wheelchair Control System!

Take a look at this awesome device that a student invented, a wiimote-controlled wheelchair control system where you can use your head to control the wheelchair.  The best part is when the user’s head comes all the way down, it activated its emergency brake system.

Neat idea that could change how wheelchairs are built for the next decade.

Toyota Develops DIY Brain Powered WheelChair!

We’ve seen the brain-powered Twitter machine for people with spinal cord injuries.  Well, Toyota has just announced a fully-capable brain-powered wheelchair that you can control with your favorite human body part, the brain!  I too, wonder when we will be able to drive a car with our brains but the wheelchair is no small feat for sheezy.

Navevo GPS catered to Disabled Citizens!

Navevo has released their new GPS capable of helping disabled citizens more than your iPhone GoogleMaps.  I guess the bad news is that this GPS is really custom-made for U.K. as of now and we probably won’t see them in the states.  (but I might be wrong, please feel free to correct me as always)

MIT DIY Robotic Wheelchair is Smart and Learns your Environment!

Check out this awesome prototype Robotic Wheelchair that the MIT researchers have been working on and it might just change the way physically-challenged people get around town.

The Robotic Wheelchair uses voice commands to navigate the wheelchair itself (which is nothing new) but what is interesting is the fact that the Robotic Wheelchair will remember the places you go such as your living room, the bathroom, etc…etc…
