DIY HACK – Wearable LED Light

Check out the wearable LED light you can make!

The Wearable Light kit is a leather cuff with LEDs embedded inside. The Velcro functions as a switch so the bracelet only illuminates when it is in active use. It is a kit designed as an investigative tool to gain insight into DIY culture. Marrying sewing techniques with electronics, a new aestheticized vernacular for constructing simple circuitry is developed. The kits were deployed to crafters in the U.S., Canada and UK.

New Samsung Display visible in direct sunlight

Wow, check out the new samsung display that is visible in direct sunlight!

This means the 2.1-inch panel will look sharp regardless of whether you’re in a dark room or out in direct sunlight. Samsung calls the new technology Automatic Brightness Adjustment. The QVGA display will also use 20&ndash30 percent less power than other screens its size. It’s expected to hit production the second half of this year.

DIY HACK – luscious electric delight (L.E.D.)

This is freakin’ awesome!

We started experimenting with “row/column scanning”. This term refers to how the columns of shared anodes(+) and rows of shared cathodes(-) in an LED matrix can be quickly turned on and off to control a single LED within the matrix. Because the number of LEDs with in a matrix will always be fewer than the total number of rows and columns, it is more efficient to quickly address the columns and rows than each individual LED.
