Solar Car Racing Taking Off in Australia!

video://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kmBf3sZQifE

Solar car racing is happening in Australia, I think this would be a great movement towards future commercial solar cars.  I don’t think we are that far away especially with the number of hybrid cars out there already with Prius already applying some solar panels.  I would love to own a solar race car one day.

SYDNEY — A 3,000-kilometre (1,860-mile) solar car race across Australia’s desert heartland be

DIY Redneck Van of the Year!

I must be the most redneck Asian guy in the world, I do time to time enjoy redneck Dave’s creations including this redneck van where the driver seats have been displaced actually “outside” the van itself.  Of course, Dave is a true redneck as he has loads of used cars laying in his farm.

I give him my official “redneck van of the year”

Korea’s New Supercar Spirra Videos and Reviews!

Looks like Korea has started their very first production of supercars, Spirra from OullimMotors. (스피라)  Not only the Spirra goes head to head and beats Lamborghinis and Porche 911 Turbos, these could possibly be making their way over to the States in the next couple years.  Well, I will be definitely getting one, hopefully I have enough money to buy one when it’s available here in SF. 🙂

When hooked to a supercharger, the Spirra S makes 400 hp. Not bad at all. However, when a turbocharger ge

Auto DIY – How to DRIFT!

Way back in college, I used to have a turbo Eclipse that I would “drift” everywhere.  At the time, I didn’t even know that I was drifting but well, I guess drifting is now classified as a “driving skill”.  One day, I will get another fast rice-beater but in the meanwhile, I will simply have to watch one of my friends drift, who has a fixed-up Z.

Here’s a short video on how to drift for those of you wanting to learn: (Of course, always take caution and try not doing drifting in public roads until you are really good at it, you might crash your car

Auto DIY – How to Change Spark Plugs!

As a Do It Yourselfer, I never rely on mechanics to change my car’s spark plugs because I rather save the extra $50 in labor.  It’s not hard and for most import cars, it’s easy as wrenching out the spark plugs.  For domestic cars, you might have to unscrew some car parts but still, it’s very do-able and once you get the hang of it, you will start saving money on car maintenance for the future.

For reference, check out this video that shows you how to change spark plugs:

Auto DIY – How to Jump Start Your Car with 12V DC Adaptors!

For those of you who are desperately needing to jump start your car (and for some reason even all your cellphones died/you don’t own land lines), you can try this simple method of connecting 12V DC adaptors in parallel to jump-start your car.

So long as you can provide ample 12VDC power, it really doesn’t matter how you jump-start your car.  One time, I even used a 12VDC laptop battery to jump-start my car so…

Rummaging through the parts on hand, [Richard] went with his old friend Sonic the Hedgehog. He used two 12-volt, 1 amp Sega Genesis power adapters in

Driving Hack – How to Get More Mileage on Your Car by Driving More Efficiently!

Recently, I found out a “secret” on how to get more mileage from your car without any kind of gimicks or gadgets but by doing less, waaaay less.

I admit I am a city boy or city man if you want to call it that.  I used to drive very fast, tailgate everyone, cut off everything.  That’s just the environment I grew up in South Korea where yelling at your fellow drivers was just like eating breakfast.

Well, I have done that over 15 years of my life but sadly, my fast life has come to an end.

Of course, I did go from 15.4 miles per gallon to a whopping 19

Auto DIY – How to Rotate Your Tires!

I started rotating my own tires when I was 17 years old with a crappy jack.  Of course, not knowing a thing about cars in my younger teen years, I probably used the wrong jack points.  Watch the video below to learn how to rotate your tires and also “where” to jack up your car so you don’t unknowingly mess up your car.

Rotating tires isn’t that hard, if you are actually paying money to someone to do this for you, you might reconsider doing it yourself in the future as the recession economy will reward you for that.

My #1 advice?
