DIY RFID Reader for iPhone!

Someone hack hacked their jailbroken iPhone to read RFID tags.  I think this could be a great way for companies to use old iPhones as RFID readers for their warehouse.  Smartphones are too valuable these days to be thrown away after use but turning them back into functional gadgets like this will be great for our environment.

I do remember at CES 2010 this year, they were using old, recycled Blackberries to read people’s tickets, that was a great idea.

iDongle – Stand-Alone iPhone Tethered Boot Device for Jailbroke iPhones

For those of you with jailbroke iPhones, you might be interested in the new iDongle, a DIY stand-alone device that will allow your jailbroke iPhone to tether boot when you iPhone runs out of batteries or resets due to a software bug.

A neat little device I’d say.  I am sure the author can extend the functionality to even jailbreak an iPhone in the future.  These are on limited productions as it seems now but may become more popular among iPhone hackers soon.
