In a recent report from Boy Genius Report, CyanogenMod 7 ROM has been downloaded over 215,000 times!
For those of you who don’t know what CyanogenMod ROM is, it’s basically an enhanced, modified Android OS that super-boosts your Android smartphone with a bunch of more features. There are features like extended battery life, faster/efficient UI, and much more.
I’ve actually been following Cyanogen’s progress ever since Nexus One was launched last January 2010. I have to say, Cyanogen has grown a quite a bit and supports many different Android smartphone including G2 Phone, HTC Evo 4G, Nexus S, MyTouch 4G, and many more.
Anyways, this is a great news for the Android hacking community, which I think is now better supported than iPhone/iPod jailbreaking community as proven with just Cyanogen’s success, which is only a part of the Android development community.
Also, I’ve written step-by-step guide for installing this CyanogenMod 7 ROM on my G2 Phone and Nexus S, you can check them out here: (shameless plug on my own sites)
