Wondering how fast AT&T’s new 4G network is?
Well, I’ve got proof here to show you how fast it is. Download speeds average around 2-3Mbps, not bad but the bad part is that your upload speeds never go above 400kbps in my testings.
Also, AT&T is very spotty for both 3G and 4G. Sometimes, I get crawling speeds of 300-500kbps download even with full bars and sometimes I get 2-3Mbps.
That is actually problem with all the 4G networks but Sprint’s WiMax 4G and Verizon’s LTE are better in my experience.
For example, if I am in a mall, Sprint’s 4G still works while my AT&T Atrix 4G and T-Mobile G2 craps out.
If you are looking for a good 4G phone, I would highly recommend Sprint of Verizon.
Plus, AT&T and T-Mobile’s 4G isn’t really 4G, it’s just HSDPA+, compared to “real” 4G technologies that WiMax and LTE uses.
WiMax and LTE are official 4G, AT&T and T-Mobile is just fake 4G marketed as 4G.

Sorta disappointing. I guess the whole location factor sets in. Never had a problem with AT&T’s network except during CES. I can get a consistent 3.5Mbps down and 1.2Mbps up where I live.
Actually not too bad where I get coverage, I am getting 4-5Mbps when I have good signal but it’s very spotty compared to Sprint or Verizon, that is all I am saying. Where do you live? I forgot sorry.
