For those of you who live in San Francisco like me, you know how hard it can be sometimes to find a parking spot. Well, lucky for Android phone users, there’s an app for that called OpenSpot that gives you “karma points” for marking open parking spots and you can use it to find yourself an open parking spot.
The only thing that worries me is if pranksters start marking non-open spots as open, I guess their Karma points would go down a lot then.
Users of the app let folks know when they are leaving a spot. Google marks the open spots on the map with red pins for newly opened spots, orange pin for spots that have been open for more than five minutes and yellow pins after ten minutes. After 20 minutes, the spot is removed from the map. Those living in San Francisco might think 20 minutes is a little generous, and Google acknowledges it on their Open Spot FAQ page.
