This hack will actually work on most Android phones, all you have to do is re-compile the kernel with added support for loop devices. Some Android versions come with it enabled (such as the Nexus One) and if your phone is lucky enough, you might be able to get Ubuntu up and running in matter of minutes (given that you’ve already rooted your phone).
I even took a short video of install Ubuntu on my HTC Evo 4G:
