Well, it seems like the method used for rooting HTC Droid Incredible also works pretty much on all HTC phones with Android 2.1.
This method isn’t the most reliable as I’ve tried it for 3 days straight and failed to root but it does indeed work if you use the right micro SD card and have some patience.
Of course, this is the hardest method of rooting your Droid Eris but if you have couple hours to kill, go ahead and head over to XDA developers for full instructions.
