For those of you who have no idea what the heck Android is and don’t know what Android SDK or ADB is, I’ve made an easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions on how to root your HTC Evo 4G.
What does rooting your phone do? It gives you “super user” access, you can install custom ROMs, apps, overclock CPU and a whole lot more.

Correction: Its been doing what the iPhone HASN’T been doing for years, It should have evolved as times progressed.. It can’t compare anymore lol…Poor Steve Jobs coming up with the iPhone 4 can barely can demo, the weak features it hardly has….Video Chat only over Wi-Fi…psssh..I’m on my Evo 4G doin Chats all day..

I am having problems “rooting” my HTC EVO Phone. The “PC36IMG.zip” file is showing up as an invalid file and the EVO is not allowing it to download the file. It goes through the rooting stage and then it quits and says the zip file is invalid. please help.

You need to follow the directions here as you have the latest OTA update, hence getting the error, I think…

Correction. iPhone 4 has 3g chat capabilities to any device with a video chat layer.
So I rooted my phone using your guide but it won’t let me delete preloaded apps like the sprint nascar cup app and I subs no use for it do I have to do a different Rom to do so everything else works I can tether I can overclock but it won’t let me delete those apps
There is a way, did you try deleting them using the SU shell?
i just got a new htc evo yesterday i used unrevoke to try and root it, it went through the process and it just rebooted but nothing changed, please help is the new phones protected from rootin
iphone will never measure up to android, u guys just barely got flash and a 5 megapixel camera ur hardware is outdated what does that tell you about the software? please dont hurt yourself trying to compare if you want cold facts check out pcworld magazine who rated the evo 4g and epic 4g as the best phones out
im new to legit smart phones (previous instinct owner) and ive never rooted or anything so…im kinda in the dark but…all i know is im paying the gd 30/mt for the wifi tether, and it looks like you guys know how to do it for free. im down, but can someone explain to me what will also change on the phone if i root it, and will a common, non programmer type, be able to still optimize the functionality of the phone after i root it? and, that guy up there was talking about video chat..??? how the hell do i do that?? any help is appreciated
