Yup, I’ve been hacking my Nexus One phone a bit, this is my first time with Android phones but seems like I am getting the hang of it. I’ve just installed the HTC Desire ROM on my Nexus One and I have to say, it’s rather nice.
I can also switch back and forth between the Cyanogen Mod and the HTC Desire, which is really cool.
Now, I just wish there were more ROMs available for the Nexus One.
You can follow my super-duper-easy HOWTO guide on how to install HTC Desire ROM on your Nexus One here.

HTC Desire is basically the same hardware as Nexus One but branded for HTC coming in about a week. But someone has hacked the Desire ROM into a Nexus One, allowing Nexus One users to see firsthand what HTC Desire looks like.
Being able to switch between two custom Android OSes within minutes? Priceless

Does the active noise cancellation work while running the HTC Desire ROM? I ask because the Desire lacks the second microphone that the Nexus uses to detect and offset background noise.
Yup, I think the noise cancellation on Nexus One is hardware enabled but I’ve checked it on the HTC Desire ROM, it works fine. Plus u can switch back and forth with Cyanogen if u want.
Newbie questions here but I just got my Cyanogen Mod rolling and got all my apps and data back onto it… if i was to install this desire ROM and set it up… when i go back to Cyanogen will my apps still be there or will i have to reinstall? I use MyBackup Pro but the apps dont show back up on my market for updates so i manually install them.

Hi Jim, you can easily use Nandroid backup, which will backup your “whole” system, see more on that here:

No need to use separate backup software once you’ve installed Cyanogen! 🙂 I use this all the time to switch back and forth between Cyanogen and desire, it takes me about 5 minutes to switch.
Thanks, Is the Desire Rom fully cooked or is it missing functionality? I am on T-Mobile so would want to make sure it could call and get HSDPA. how is it (desire) inferior to Cyanogen?
Desire ROM is very good, I m using the old Modaco 12 version and actually works better over Cyanogen. I’ve been using it straight for like 2 months almost now, highly recommended mod.
