Mic Hack – How to Make a Windproof Microphone Blimp with Shock Mount!


Using bird feeder, paint roller, feather from Michael’s craft store, and a cheap microphone, you can make yourself a windproof microphone blimp with a shock mount that will do just as well as a commercial blimp such as this one.

For those of you simply need a microphone that will work well in outdoor, windy conditions, I think you could save a lot of money by making one of these DIY Mic Blimps. I bought a shotgun microphone myself couple months back for CES 2010 and might even try this for windy recordings.
