Home Office DIY – How to Setup Your Workstation Right!

Ever since I started working full-time at home, I always set-up my desk in front of the biggest window I can find.  Above is great example of that from Mark Tilden’s home office in Hong Kong. Below is my blogging setup.

If your work involves sitting down for a long time, I find it relaxing and you can do more work when you are seeing the beautiful outdoors while you do.

A lot of people don’t think about “the view” when they rent/buy a home.  You should because people who think about it get the best view and the rest don’t.  Do you live in front of a wall?  I hope not.  One time I lived in an apartment that had a window to the brick wall of the next building.  It took me only 3 months before I moved to 10th floor of a high-rise building near the party central. 🙂

Remember, “where” you work can determine the quality of your work.  In my case, I would like that to be somewhat “relaxed”, not in a hurry.

Eyestrain … headaches … skin cancer from sun exposure – ALL should be taken into account during all aspects of our daily lives. Facing a window like these for hours on end can be quite dangerous and un-healthy. Sure, they might be beautiful views. But for hours on end?

True, you will need to make sure to get a good view but good angles so you don’t get hit with sun all the time. My place is slightly angled away from the west so UV ray exposure is minimal. But yes, UV is an important factor to consider along with the view.
