I’ve always found that DSLR auto-trigger can be rather expensive for no apparent reason other than camera makers are over-charging for accessories. Well, you don’t have to deal with that anymore if you want to build yourself a nifty laser trigger for your DSLR. This could possibly be better than radio-controlled ones, who knows?
I am sure even if you don’t make a laser trigger, you could probably build a cheap radio-trigger by applying the DSLR trigger basics outlined here.
There are a few different ways you can use the Arduino to trigger the camera – I considered using a relay, but the problem is that even very fast relays are quite slow, so I decided to use a transistor instead:
