E-Mail DIY – How to Unsubscribe from E-Mailing Lists!

It actually took me years to realize that it’s very easy to stop those annoying e-mails you get from online companies. (including this one hahaha)

Here’s how to unsubscribe from e-mailing lists:

Go to the bottom of the e-mail and click on “unsubscribe” button.

Usually, there’s an “unsubscribe” button at the bottom of every e-mail that you have somehow “subscribed” to either by signing up or buying a service/product online.

Most of the time, pressing the “unsubscribe” button will work better than marking it “spam”, especially if you opted-in to receive the e-mail in the first place.  Sometimes, even marking them “spam” won’t stop them from sending you e-mails.

However, if there isn’t an “unsubscribe” button, that usually means it’s probably “spam” and you can safely mark it spam.

Sometimes services like MySpace or Facebook will actually make you “login” to stop annoying e-mails on company news and updates.  Of course, sometimes you even “lose” your login and password. THAT is really annoying when you can’t do it with 1-click.

First, I try making sure to “unclick” any opt-out checkmarks before I buy/sign up for any products/services.  That is smart, just take your time when you do stuff online as you might regret it later when your e-mail inbox fills with unwanted advertisements.

Now that said, that is how you “unsubscribe”, simply press the button at the bottom of the e-mail.  Even for this site, I get a ton of e-mails everyday asking me stop sending them e-mail when all they had to do was press the button.

How simple is that?

After I found out how simple it was, I started unsubscribing to all those companies that I didn’t want to get e-mails from.  Now, I only get e-mails from the companies I am very interested in.
