Auto DIY – How to Replace Air Filter and Spark Plugs on a Chevy Trailblazer!

Well, I had the pleasure of replacing the air filter and spark plugs on my Chevy Trailblazer yesterday.  Let me tell you how I did it for those of you who don’t know.

First of all, the air filter is pretty easy, just take the 3 screws out on box on the left inside the hood.  If you take the left box out, you will see your air filter.

Take the air filter out and don’t replace it yet if you are going to replace the spark plugs too.

For spark plugs, you will need to take off the center box piece by wrenching out 2 bolts and unscrewing the air intake piping and the throttle body.

Once you get the center box piece off, you will see “six” objects with metal fins on top.  Simply take the spark plug wires off then wrench out the bolts holding down each of objects.  There’s also 2 air vacuum hoses you will need to pull off. (and put back on later!)

If you take those objects out, you will have access to the spark plugs.  Use spark plug tools to take them out.

When you put the new spark plugs in (Iridium spark plugs), make sure to not overtighten, half a turn after you reach a stopping point should do.

Assemble everything back in your car and start your car.

Drive around and see if your car is running better.

Phew, that was hard to figure out since most cars have easier access to the spark plugs but SUVs in general are kinda hard…

Why am I doing car work again?  I dunno, maybe because of the new RideYourPimp blog.
