One of the most important things I realize over the years, is the fact that you need to set yourself up for success at your work whether that’s a cubicle or your deks at home.
So, here’s some tips on how to improve productivity at work:
1. Get to work at least 15 minutes early. Early birds eat the worms. This old adage is true and I have seen a lot of expensive cars parked about 15 minutes earlier than the rest at most corporation parking lots in the morning. Your 15 minutes will let you get a “racing” start when that clock turns to 8. (or 9)
I used to get to work about 3 hours earlier to avoid traffic and to kill my co-workers. I would usually have most of my work done by lunch and have 2 days of work done in 1 day usually.
I am not evil but I am not going to wait around to climb the corporate ladder, you better get those people on top of you off ASAP or climb OVER THEM! It’s not my fault someone made a corporation with positions but you need to adapt quickly or become a slave to the corporation forever. (I hope you LYAO. haha, don’t take it too seriously.)
2. During those 15 minutes, CLEAN your desk and organize everything. This is probably the most important advice I can give you. When your desk is cleaner and organized, you get everything done faster and easier. Better yet, if you can get your company to afford a personal assistant to clean your desk. 🙂
3. Take breaks at least once an hour. There’s actually bunch of studies that your brain will think better if you don’t work more than 45 minutes at a time. It’s true, you need to take breaks, humans are not machines. Concentrate, take a (smoke) break, concentrade, take a (smoke) break, etc…etc…
You will be more productive and get more things done while you don’t feel stressed from working through lunch or what other stupid things you do to your poor self.
Okay, that’s couple tips that can help you. Maybe this might not be appropriate for your job (For example, you have a moonlighting job), but I hope it does. 🙂
