It is a fantastic development. Not only for lazy fellows but also for guys like me who find it difficult to use a normal board backed mouse, due to problems with the wrist.

Just out of curiosity—does this thing emulate a three button mouse? I.e., if you press both buttons, does it act as ‘button three”? I’d like to get one, but my only concern is the lack of a scroll wheel. However, if you can “middle click” by clicking both buttons, then that would allow a scroll function. Thanks for your input!

I’ve been using a wireless presentation style mouse for several months. I started using my regular mouse as a hand held, then got this thing. It’s nice, but the one major issue with a trackball is you don’t want roller style ball interfaces. It get’s jammed quite often. You have to pull it apart and try and clean it. I’ve got a lighted magnifying plate on a stand that works for that very nicely, but other wise it would be about impossible to clean the thing. A laser trackball is probably much better. I don’t think this one says which it is. I also would not want a cable on it. The cable gets tangled when you’re moving around.

And my hand held does have a third button, but not a wheel. You can use the third button for scrolling with many applications/interfaces.
