Since I have been playing with green lasers for about a year, I never saw any good use for them except to point them to the sky or buildings.
Since the green laser has a lot of power, especially the one DragonLasers sent me recently, I decided it was time to make a simple green laser projector without me spending days to build one.
This simpler green laser projector was made so I could use it for my next party and I always wanted to make this. Although this laser projector only does one animation, 2 whirpools, I planned to improve upon after making this very basic version.

When the motor is stopped, it also displays a bunch of green laser stars like this:

For twenty minutes of your time and such inexpensive material, what you have achieved there is fantastic. I look forward to seeing your advanced version of it.
Cool idea. Instant disco! I’d like to see how the next version turns out.
Yey, yeah will have to work on more…
Yes, I am trying to think of what to do next…
GREAT IDEA, DO U THINK MULTI COLORED LIGHTS SUCH AS RED AND WHITE ADD MORE EXCITEMENT TO A PLAIN ALL TIME GREEN ONE.
iF VARIABLE MOTOR IS USED TO VARY THE SPEED FROM TIME TO TIME THE PATTERN WUD CHANGE,
also glass reflector shaped in parabolic form create better discoing effect,
Am I right on this suggestion
Thanx

Hi. Great idea. Here are two variations worth considering.
1. Use PVC instead of metal pipe (lighter, easier to work with).
2. No need to disassemble the stand to feed wires through. Instead, use a vaccuum cleaner hose to “suck” a light cotton pull string through the pipe, then tie the string to the wires and pull them through.
What is the power of the laser pointer you are using? It seems really bright.
Thanks,
– Dave
Yes, great points Dave, I was using a 250mW laser I believe. It is super bright and super wide btw. 🙂
You will get a much cooler effect if you got a subwoofer, or a big speaker and attatch a little mirror to the speaker and point the laser onto the mirror and play some music with the speaker 🙂
Awesome! Like to try it! I hope it works!
you could probably hook up the motor to a computer and find a motor controlling software thing and make a more complex show
