Cedar House, made entirely from Cedar!

Cedar House, made entirely from Cedar!

Check out this awesome eco-friendly Cedar House, entirely made from sustainable Cedar wood, cutting down on carbon footprint as much as possible.

Of course, maybe not intended, but this house probably is the most moth-repelling in the world as cedar is commonly used for repelling moths that can eat your clothes.  (Personally, I find moths very appealing and they are pretty smart.  I made a lot of moth friends last summer, too bad the weather’s too cold for them this summer)

Created for an old couple, the Onigiri House was designed to maximize volume and limit cost while seamlessly integrating into its environs. It’s name stems from its structural reference to Onigiri, a Japanese snack made by forming rice into a triangular or oval shape and then wrapping it in nori.

The triangular tube is constructed entirely of cedar that was sustainably harvested from local sources. NKS Architects chose a type of cider wood that made the region famous for its application in shipbuilding, cutting down on the home’s carbon footprint by negating material transportation costs. The interior spaces are suffused with light and well ventilated thanks to large windows located at each end, and an elevated platform protects the home from the region’s occasional flooding.

Solar Shower gives you Hot Showers Outdoors!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, Earth, Gadgets, Solar by max on the July 14th, 2008 at 11:37 am

Solar Shower gives you Hot Showers Outdoors!

Here’s a cool solar shower that will give you a nice hot shower outdoors.  Of course, this might be kinda stupid if the weather is over 100 degrees but anytime else, it’s a great way to re-use that sun power for cleansing all that chlorine after swimming.

This outdoor shower harnesses the suns energy to warm water from a garden hose to a soothing 86° F, providing a refreshing cascade of water for rinsing off chlorine, sunscreen, or dirt. The showers base acts as a greenhouse to heat hose water; sunlight penetrates the transparent lid and the trapped solar radiation heats the water as it courses through the internal collection tube. It produces 16 gallons of warm water after two hours of sunlight exposure, allowing up to 8 consecutive two-minute showers.

Light Bench lights up your night!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, Furniture, Gadgets, LED, lights by max on the July 1st, 2008 at 6:00 pm

Light Bench lights up your night!

If I had a million dollars, I’d make sure to get these light-up benches for my outdoor patio.  (which of course if protected by overhanging canvas from rain)

Better yet, add some solar panels and make it solar powered.

The bench is suitable for indoor and outdoor, and is weather resistant and rugged. Several benches can be combined together for a more dramatic look. It operates by an individually pre-programmed remote control that is simple and intuitive to use. Almost an art object, the Light Bench creates the right presence in creative and communicative environments.

Toyota rolls out Night View “Body Detection” system!

Posted in Auto, Cars, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets by max on the May 30th, 2008 at 5:12 am

Toyota rolls out Night View \

Wow, here’s an innovation that’s only going to get better and better from Toyota.

It’s a night view system that detects people at speeds lower than 60km/hour. Well, eventually, they should be able to add a feature where the car will stop automatically if the car is running into a human being.

Future is here!

The newest Crown Hybrid employs pattern recognition to recognize pedestrians. Multiple sets of image data on the shapes of pedestrians have been prepared and, the shape of the image shot by the system is compared with the data. When the system determines that a pedestrian is present, yellow frames are displayed around the pedestrian as well as the entire image on the screen.

The yellow frame surrounding the entire image helps driver to recognize pedestrians without moving the sight to the LCD meter.

The LCD meter has a resolution of 1280 x 480 dots. The size of the image indicated by the Night View system is 614 x 346 dots. Vehicle speed, brightness and weather are the conditions that affect the activation of the pedestrian detection function of the Night View system.

My friend James is also giving out some free One Buck Wiki pages!

Posted in Contest, Cool by max on the January 14th, 2008 at 3:08 am

It’s weird but page sales have just recently just took off again. It must be a weather thing.

Anyways, my friend James is also giving out free One Buck Wiki pages over at his blog over here.

Here’s how you can enter:

With these contests there is always some type of requirement to enter right? Well I am going to try and make it easy and give you some choices with how you can enter. For 1 entry you can just Subscribe to Total Web Review by Email. Easy enough right? How about if you want to increase your chances of winning? Well you can write a post on your blog about the new site from the creators of OneBuckWiki. It is called SiteHoppin’. Do something similar to the one that I did (SiteHoppin post), mention OneBuckWiki also, link to both of those sites and this post, and you will earn 10 entries. That could just tip the scales in your favor right? Well there is a few more things that you can do;
1 entry stumble this post
1 entry digg this post (this no longer qualifies for an entry, those that did still receive one entry if you notified me of your entry. I no longer have access to digg and it seems that they have took all of the diggs from my articles)
1 entry join SiteHoppin
1 entry reply to this post
1 entry Zoom this post ( see the zoom button below)
Now that gives you 7 ways to enter and if you do all 6 then you will have 15 entries.

via TotalWebReview

Wow, I didn’t even notice that you can win by joining SiteHoppin. (That’s COOL!)

The all weather television

Posted in Audio, Consumer by david on the June 2nd, 2007 at 3:00 pm

Its great to watch the TV outside in the garden, patio or balcony, getting the sun and fresh air, instead of being stuck inside, and now you can watch a 46 inch HD ready all weather TV.

SunBriteTV have the answer for anyone who would love to own such television without the worry of the weather, of course there is always the possibility of there being rain, cold or both, the SunBriteTV has a corrosion resistant casing that will protect the internal workings from the weather and any thing else including accidents.

Sunbritetv

Being enclosed the inside of the casing would get extremely hot, so there are filtered fans which will keep the inside cool and a heather for the reverse. The cables are waterproofed too, including the antenna cable.

But having the ability to do all of this is expensive and so this is bound to be reflected in the price, which is, around $5,000, and for those who can’t wait this TV will be in the stores in by the end of the month.
