DIY TV HACK - How to hook up your TV to your computer! (Or 2 Monitors)

DIY TV HACK - How to hook up your TV to your computer! (Or 2 Monitors)

Well, this is a real short hack (or a howto really) for hooking up your TV to your computer.

First, you will need a dual-monitor graphic adaptor or extra graphic adaptors.  (1 per monitor) If you don’t have one, go buy one with lots of RAM over at your favorite electronics store.

*If you have a laptop, you don’t need a dual-monitor, just use the S-Video or the video outputs. You will need to hit that monitor shaped button along with Fn button couple times usually to make the screen show.

You can also get DVI to TV cables if you want better resolution but I simply hooked up via S-Video since most TVs support that and I don’t feel like shelling out another 30 bucks for the cables.

After you have your graphic adaptor installed, hook up your PC Monitor and your TV as shown above. (The picture shows how I hooked up S-Video but even better if you have that DVI connectivity on your HDTV or DLPTV. You can also hook up to another monitor if you’d like. I only used TV example since I only have 1 monitor.)

If your graphic adaptor comes with some software, install that too.

DUALMONITOR3

Now go to your Display Settings. Click on #2 and select on “Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor” and hit “Apply”.

You should now be able to drag any of your windows into your TV and enjoy SiteHoppin or watch YouTube videos in full screen.

Here’s a video explaining the whole thang:

The MacWorld Steve Jobs Flash Game!

Wow, i was just searching through some stuff on Macs today on SiteHoppin’ (we added a new category Mac today) and found this awesome Steve Jobs Flash game!

This has got to be the tightest game I’ve seen in awhile. BTW, Macworld is going on right now.

Here’s the story:

Imagine being Apple CEO Steve Jobs.
Imagine getting ready for this years MacWorld Expo keynote presentation.
Imagine having to collect all the insanely great Mac, iPhone and TV Stuff you are going to present at Macworld Expo without revealing it to industrial spies and journalists.
Try the game that lets you experience what it feels like to be Steve Jobs just before your Keynote presentation.

Live coverage from Sony’s CES press conference at Engadget

Live coverage from Sony’s CES press conference at Engadget

The greatest part about NOT going to CES this year? I get to sit on my butt and read all these tech blog write about them. Well, it’s good that I am acting sorta as a “human filter” to filter out all the crappy stuff and post the best on Zedomax.

Anyways, you can get a really good overview of Sony’s CES press conference over at Engadget. I think this is one of the longest Engadget posts I’ve seen in awhile.

Here’s an excerpt from the blog post:

4:53PM - Talking about the exit from microprojection, and focusing on flat-panel. “According to NPD, Sony was the leader in market leader in dollars and units — even with the highest average selling price.” Wait, is this guy calling his customers suckers? Two new models: 40 and 46-inch, as well as the 32 and 37-inch 1080p models with DMex. “Ten of these new sets will be full HD 1080p — which as you’ll remember Sony created and popularized years ago.” No, Sony, no. You didn’t “invent” 1080p HDTV. Nice try.

I agree, Sony does suck at trying to sell itself…

It’s an Apple remote

Posted in Computer, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, TV by david on the December 7th, 2007 at 6:00 am

Of course this is The Apple or indeed An Apple, but is a remote that can also be placed in a bowl where it would be mistaken as being a piece of art.

These remotes are all slightly different shades as an apple should be, after all you never get two the same.

They will come with a bowl that recharges them every time that they have been placed in it. This is a design in the concept stage, which quite possibly may hit the stores.

The Quarter Wiki - a new paid Online Encyclopedia!

As you know, the team of moonlighters at Zedomax.Net has been working on new paid wikis. We belive this concept of paid wikis will blow up soon and we have just started diggin’.

We first made Five Dollar Wiki, One Buck Wiki, then EntreWiki.

Now, we introduce you to the new younger brother, The Quarter Wiki where you can buy a page for just a quarter!

That’s right, our motto for this new site is, “In Wiki We Trust”.

We are still working on some functionalities of the site, so don’t blame us if you find a page under construction. We just wanted to let you know heads up on the new website so you can go reserve your pages before all the good ones get taken.

The Quarter Wiki is a new paid online encyclopedia where you can buy your own page for just a quarter.

Unlike Wikipedia, you can add videos, RSS Feeds, advertisements, and GoogleMaps to a page on the QuarterWiki.

More simply, QuarterWiki filters spam by charging a small fee for each page so you don’t have to deal with it.

To get started with QuarterWiki, sign up for an account and search for your desired words you’d like to purchase.

How good is the LG Voyager?

Posted in Bluetooth, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, TV, cell phones, mp3 by david on the November 19th, 2007 at 10:00 am

Well if you take notice of what Verizon dealers are saying, then it would appear that it may be good enough to give the Apple iPhone a run for its money.

verizon

But as with any device, it is only as good as what it does, how much it costs and how it will fit into your lifestyle. By the looks of it the hype has started early and as normal I expect that we will be seeing a lot more of this in the next few months and then there is the Google Phone coming out next year too, so many choices!

lost in space laser

These are a limited edition copy of the weapons used in the show, they are being sold as part of the fortieth anniversary of the show, is it really that long ago? Not that I remember of course!

These pistols are mounted and come with a signed and numbered display plaque; they all bear the signature of actor Billy Mummy who played Will Robinson.

The price however will be $600!

The Apple TV

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Funny, Gadgets, TV by david on the October 29th, 2007 at 2:00 pm

No its not that type of Apple this one looks like an apple and is not an Apple as such although it could be, it appears to have an identity crisis.

apple tv

This is a ten inch LCD TV, which is enclosed in a nice big red apple, has 800 x 600 pixel res, 4:3 ratio, the screen has and estimated screen life of 30,000 hours which is around 12 twelve years usage.

apple tv

This a great for a child’s room as it would appeal directed towards that age of consumer although it is not a requirement. When the doors are opened up it reveals the TV and speakers that are placed inside the each door.

Priced around $520.
