Lizard made from Soda and Bottle Caps!

Lizard made from Soda and Bottle Caps!

Check out this cool lizard, all made from soda and bottle caps.

What’s interesting is the artist behind this Lizard, Val Hunt makes all kinds of neat things with recycled material (crap).  We need more artists like this who can turn something trash into work of art.

Great stuff Val, keep ‘em coming.

Reincarnated Rubbish is Val Hunt’s touring solo exhibition. Despite her use of manufactured materials from foil, take-away containers, computer parts and especially drinks can metal much of her inspiration comes from natural forms. Patterns, colours and logos aften appear on the finished, expertly crafted objects.

iPod Touch 2G Hands On over at Engadget!

Posted in A+Featured Gadgets, Apple, Consumer, Cool, Design, Entertainment, Gadgets, Gifts, iPod, iPod Touch by max on the September 9th, 2008 at 12:19 pm

Well, it seems like the iPod Touch 2G is officially ready for the masses.

The main difference between iPod Touch 1G and 2G is that the 2G version is much more thinner with a glossier finish while holding much larger data storage of 32GB or 64GB.

I would buy the new version for the extra storage space but don’t know if anything else has really changed enough to be better.

The WiFi antenna looks much better integrated, the speaker doesn’t sound like complete trash despite not even having any speaker holes, and the thing is crazy thin. Like, really, really thin.

EcoJohn - Eco Toilet Incinerates your Poop!

Eco Toilet Incinerates your Poop!

This has to be the coolest eco-frienldy device for taking a dump.  It’s an Eco Toilet that works by incinerating your poop to white powder.  Even better, the incinerated poop can be used for adding nutrition to your plants.

With the Eco Toilet in the works, we will no longer need long septic pipes to our houses, just one little toilet that does the job for you.

Of course, I have not tested this unit.  The only thing I am afraid of is the fact that it’s going to smell somewhat like burnt poop somewhere along the line but perhaps I might be wrong on this.

The toilets, one of several waste disposal products offered by the company, operate pretty much like the units found in homes across America today. But while those toilets use water to carry waste away, the EcoJohn Sr. is equipped with a propane-fueled burner.

After a user does his business, he closes the lid and a large, screw-like auger turns and carries the waste to the burn chamber where the propane burner then bakes urine, feces and paper into ashes.

“With this, if you have a family of four for a year and half, you get about a cup of white ash,” company president Frank Jacobsonsaid. “And because it’s burnt so intensely, you can take it and put it in a flower bed or outside or just dump it in the trash can. It’s completely biodegradable, so there’s not a problem for disposal.”

DIY - How to Make a Flagman Table!

DIY - How to Make a Flagman Table!

Here’s a creative way to make a flagman table.  You can probably find one of these signs at a junkyard or steal one from under-construction streets.  (Just don’t blame us if you get caught for stealing)

Most of my work is with “trash”, and in the spirit of freegans and readymakers everywhere, I try to spend as little money as possible. In addition to saving me some trouble, saving money is often a simple way to save the environment — use less crap. The peeling paint and dings in the sign become an integral part of the aesthetic.

A new BMW for just $328!

Posted in Auto, Cool, Funny, Household, Trash by david on the January 16th, 2008 at 1:00 pm

Sounds to good to be true, well it is true but its not a car it is a waste bin, designed by the BMW design works Ecopod.

But as you would expect this is no ordinary waste bin, this is a home recycling centre that can be used on a daily basis. What ever you put into it gets shredded and ends up in the bottom as an easily removable package.

Priced at $328

Mp3 gets a steam punk finish

Posted in Audio, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, Music, Steampunk, mp3 by david on the November 27th, 2007 at 6:00 am

I like steam punk stuff, but this is not one of the better ones, but the good thing about it, is the fact that the mp3 unit was actually found on the ground outside a bus station, which means if the designer had not recycled it into this it would have then been added to the land fill.

It is hard to describe something like what Khan wore on his wrist in the second Star Trek movie, but for just an mp3 player isn’t this going a little over the top or maybe not, most of the parts have been recycled too so at least they did not even end in the trash.
