HOWTO setup a rocket for electrical ignition!

Posted in Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Shows by max on the January 12th, 2007 at 2:24 pm

We were going to make a fireworks DIY for New Years but didn’t really know how to set the
electrical ignition for it. Well, we just found one for rocket ignition that could work for our Chinese
New Years DIY.

Now we get to see some great closeups of my favorite alloy (aside from inconel that is): nichrome. Nichrome is great. It’s cheap, heats up nicely, and doesn’t oxidize very easily. Beat that, tungsten carbide. You had to resort to a nonmetal.

As I was saying, wrap the nichrome around all three fuses, and attatch your lead wires to it.

Coat the igniter in some more nitrocellulose laquer, and prime it with some more black powder. It is now ready to be launched.

Check out Macworld and Apple Store this week in San Francisco! We might be there to exchange
some of our DIY projects for something at the Make Store if that works…hehe…anyways,
we will make sure to take some photos if we do go! Cool, they got some stuff about rss and

which are on the way… yipee!

Cool, the Macworld show is at Moscone center, my friend Markus works there, he’s probably
setting it up right now!  My favorite place for shows since it’s not too far away.
Be sure to check Make out this week and tell them Zedomax guys told them to go! :)

Zedomax DIY124 - HOW TO make a $50 golf training aid for 5 bucks!

Posted in Circuits, Consumer, Cool, DIY Zedomax, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Garrett's DIYs, Graphics, Hack, Shows, Video, photography by max on the December 13th, 2006 at 4:16 pm

It’s getting near Christmas time and I needed to prepare some Christmas gifts for my parents.
Since my Dad does not get much time on the golf course these days, I figured I could make
a training aid he could use at home to keep his swing on path.

Since I didn’t want to spend 50 bucks on the golf training aid, so I decided to make one real quick.

CNET’s James Kim and family missing — have you seen them?

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Help us find James Kim by watching the video on ipod and more! Every click will help the video get on top of YouTube.

We’ve received word that a respected member of our tech community, James Kim (whom many of you may know as CNET’s senior editor of digital audio), and his family have gone missing. As we understand it, last weekend James, his wife Kati (above right), and his very young girls Penelope (left) and Sabine (baby), drove from their home in the SF Bay Area to Seattle. They were expected back some time Sunday, but were last seen by a hotel clerk at 5:45 PM on Saturday in or between Gold Beach or Portland, Oregon. We sincerely do hope they are all safe, and our hearts go out to the Kim family.

We’ll have more information as we get it. If you have any information as to the Kim family’s whereabouts, please contact the SFPD at 415-558-5508 during normal business hours, and 415-553-1071 after hours.
