It’d be hard to believe but yes, Sergey Brin and Larry Page made their first 40GB Google Storage Server with lego casing. Perhaps they might have been great lego-designers if they didn’t come up with Google.

The development of the Google algorithms was carried on on a variety of Computers, mainly provided by the NSF-DARPA-NASA-funded Digital Library project at Stanford. Click to see the equipment in its laboratory setting on the basement floor of Gates Information Sciences. Crawling the web to obtain its link structure required an enormous amount of storage in comparison with typical student projects at that time. We show here the original storage assembly, containing 10 4 Gigabyte disk drives, giving 40 Gbytes total.

Google and Yahoo has just launched GooHoo, a search engine composed of Google and Yahoo! (I am dead serious!)

Google (NSDQ: GOOG) co-founder Sergey Brin recently said, “We have been talking to Yahoo (NSDQ: YHOO) and we are very excited to be working with them.” The goal? Tie the two companies into an advertising powerhouse…

HACK Google – Google Pageranks and Googlebombing

If you have been following the web lately, you should know what Google pageranks are and what Googlebombing is.
Just in case you don’t know, Google Pageranks are some type of crazy algorithm that determines how important your website is on Google search engine.
They recently changed it to prevent Googlebombing, which is a method of bombing certain keywords to get on the top of the search list.
For example, you can tag a completely random phrases such as, “sawasdikul” and show up first on Google. I just did it for testing if zedomax would show up first since this word didn’t really exist on the web but it worked! You can see zedomax on the top 3 or 4. Amazingly, some people do this with phrases such as, “george bush”, which used to show something nasty but I think the new Google algorithm got rid of that.

Anyways, there seems to be some type of power among bloggers theses days on Google to make their site show up first. Actually that is the reason I got started since it was amazing to see all these bloggers and the blogsphere get bigger and grow like crazy over the last couple years. Check out any major blog site on Alexa and you can see their growth is amazing! What is more amazing is video sites like peekvid. Well, we made our own for experimentation using a blog engine. We will update you on our findings with our new video site. (So far, it seems that people stay longer at a website due to the length of videos…)

PageRank was developed at Stanford University by Larry Page (hence the name Page-Rank^[1]) and Sergey Brin as part of a research project about a new kind of search engine.
