Looks like Shelto has been updating his internet robot project from couple months ago.

Check out this cool internet controlled security robots made with some CUBLOC PLCs and GPS modules.

We’ve lowered the overall profile and given Turtle (or should it be Tiger), a new paint job. We have also added a GPS unit. The GPS feeds signals to the CUBLOC micro controller which sends the location back to the controlling pc on the internet.

I need one of these cool coin eating robots and watch it slowly rob me of all my coins before I goto bed.

Striking an eerie resemblance to the MCP from Tron, this new bank from Banpresto eats coins (and presumably bills or any other objects) gleefully and swallows them whole. Designed by Japanese designer Takada this latest gadget from Japan comes in blue, red, and white.

Robotic flowers respond to SMS and web input

Cool, check out these artistic robotic flowers that can respond to SMS and web input.

Matt Gardiner’s recent incarnation of his “Oribotics” (robotic origami flowers) project adds a networked component that allows visitors to send SMS messages to the cyborg buds from their cellphones as well as input control messages through a web-based interface.

Check out this awesome Robot Jockey, I’d say it’s one of the most creative robots ever built.

According to the designer, Martin Buehler, it’s a ”prototype jockey ridden hopping robot that controlled forward speed, hopping height, and pitch balance, the jockey did sideways balance and steering.” I had to read that sentence over about five times before it made sense, you too?

Check out this comical toilet flushing Lego Mindstorm robot. It’s hilarious!

They should install these at all the stalls in the airports. That’d trip out a lot of people. Maybe we can do a candid camera on top of it….hehe…

Tired of flushing your own toilet? Build a RoboFlush! RoboFlush is a simple Lego NXT Mindstorms Robot designed to flush a toilet automatically. It also comes with a manual flush option! Check out these instructions to build your own. Mike D’Amour came up with the idea, and Will Gorman built and documented RoboFlush.

Roll out the barrel

Now this could be a candidate for the robo competition, the only problem is this could be considered very useful indeed as it does contain beer. Well at some stage it did or if it can be refilled does.

r2d2 beer keg

But this little r2d2 type robot clearly has no beer inside now, and so it debatable, what does an empty beer keg do?

Build a funny robot

If you like robot wars then you will not be liking this, it’s the Baka Robo Cup 2007competition held in Japan, well where else would you expect this to be held?

Now this is not your average robo competition, it is designed for robots that cannot do anything useful. However there is a prize of $4,200 for best useless robot in the world.

The Baka Robo Cup 2007

To qualify for the competition, aspiring baka-robo must satisfy 3 conditions: (1) they must be mechanical in nature (i.e. they must have moving parts), (2) they must serve no useful purpose (i.e. they must be as impractical and worthless as possible), and (3) they must make people laugh (with entertaining action, amusing features, systems that surprise or shock the audience, etc.).

The Baka Robo Cup 2007

The deadline for entries is October 5th 2007 and the glorious winner will be announced on November 4th 2007. The Baka Robo Cup 2007.

Transformer torch key chain

autobots

This character is an Autobot, which I believe are the good guys in the up and coming Transformer movie. When this torch is in use the logo of the Autobots is displayed on any suitable surface, providing that there is not much background light around.

Although it is a laser pointer device the distance that the beam will travel is very limited, and will fade away the further the wall or surface is. So it is not exactly the Bat Signal, but good enough for a small device.
