Check out this cool Magic Message MIrror that will hook up to your existing home security system to provide you with automated messages from the Magic Man in the mirror.

During idle mode, the Magic Mirror is just a regular mirror as shown above.

During message mode, a funny man will appear in the mirror to let you know about what kind of security breaches have been going on with option to play security videos/cameras.

The patented “Magic Message Mirror” looks and functions like a decorative wall mirror, but when your home automation/security system senses a change in your environment, “Basil of the Mirror” (a somewhat pompous English Butler personality) magically appears and verbally provides real-time information. The M30P will also theatrically reveal an integrated live camera feed to show the area of interest, if you have cameras incorporated into your home security system, or decide to add them when you install the M30P.

Zedomax Server Hogging…

Posted in Cool by max on the September 4th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

Yes, Zedomax.com has been up and down and running for last couple months on a quad-cpu server that’s simply not capable.

But today I did get to goto my girlfriend’s parents house and hook them up with an portable AC conditioner.  I will not get into details but that’s been taking most of my time and I had no access to my computer. (blogger excuse…ahem…)

Anyways, I will be back tomorrow morning to continue where I left off, tracks to covering all the neat gadgets with a twist of cool personality, that’s what I am striving for.

And make sure to check out our new Google Chrome Browser Tips and Hacks Blog, to cover the latest hacks on how to do anything with Chromey…

Here’s a funky robot that dances to the music from Japan.  You can even hook up your iPod to enjoy your music on the robot.

It’s a robot for pure recreation, I am not sure how it’d sell in the U.S. market yet.

The two-wheeled, dancing A.M.P. (Automated Music Personality or Ampbot) from Sega-Hasbro stands 2.4-feet tall and features a MP3 or iPod cradle on its back, stereo speakers, and the ability to follow and interact with its owner. There’s a 5-inch mid-range speaker in the chest and a pair of smaller tweeters in the shoulders for a total output of 12 watts. Osamu Takeuchi of Sega Toys says, “The owner can also enjoy being chased around the house by the robot.

Female Humanoid Robot from Sega that can “kiss”!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Funny, Gadgets, Robots, technology by max on the June 13th, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Female Humanoid Robot from Sega that can \"kiss\"!

I don’t get the point of getting kissed my a robot but here’s a female humanoid robot that can do that. Maybe they should add “tongues” for version two for some French kisses.

Sega Toys is gearing up to roll out a new humanoid robot in Japan, E.M.A., on September 26th. E.M.A. stands for “Eternal, Maiden, Actualization” and EMA is a female, not the first female rbot. She stands 38 cm tall and boasts of a “glamorous body” and high level of interactivity. The robot can hand out business cards, it can sing and dance and walk “like a lady”. But the most interesting aspect to her personality is that she can kiss you. If your head comes close to the robot, its love mode kicks in and you will receive a kiss.

Crabfu’s SwashBot 3 made using ShapeLock

What’s great about this DIY isn’t just the Crabfu robot but the material ShapeLock used to make it. Well, I’ve been looking for something that you can mold easily such as ShapeLock.

Great DIY and thanks for sharing the information with us.  The crab robot is so awesome!  (except crabs walk sideways, not forwards and backwards…hehe you need to add one more leg on the back to really crab it, I know because I go crab-fishing all the time.)

I-Wei thought his SwashBot 2 was cool and all, but had lost some of the character of his original SwashBot. So, he built a third version that combines the mobility of the second with the charm and personality of his first crab bot. To build the body and the leg components, he used an amazing molding material called ShapeLock. Seeing the results definitely makes this something I want to check out. You can mold it very thin and flexible for the body pieces or thick and rigid for functional components like the leg segments.
