Interactive Multi-touch LED Floor!

Here’s a really cool interactive multi-touch LED floor.  I wonder if they can turn this into an interactive game sorta like Nintendo Wii.

Sensacell’s latest contraption still manages to stand out by bringing back memories of when mouse trails really were the coolest thing about an operating system. Flashbacks aside, the installation — which is currently at the entrance to the Comunitat Valenciana in Spain — possesses over 1,000 interactive modules, each of which include capacitive sensors and a LED lighting system. The integrated tech enables it to recognize when someone is walking over it and consequently light up as if to leave an eye-catching LED trail of their path.

Chinese Nintendo Wii Clone - Rumdes V-Sports Game Console!

Chinese Nintendo Wii Clone - Rumdes V-Sports Game Console!

As bad as it sounds, the new Chinese Nintendo Wii dubbed, “Rumdes V-Sports Game Console“, may pick up in sales real soon as it’s 1/3 cost of a Wii unit.

My thoughts on the Chinese Wii?

Well, it looks pretty good enough.  My only concern is that everything is copies/copied for people in China.  I mean, will they ever get the real stuff???

Besides that, this game console looks pretty cheesy but fun.   I want to get this so I can play some Wii-like games without paying for one.

Wii Hack - Wii Nunchuck and Arduino controls 3D Studio Max!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, Games, wii by max on the July 11th, 2008 at 4:06 pm

Here’s a cool Nintendo Wii hack that controls 3D Studio Max with a Nintendo Wii Nunchuck and Arduino as controller.

A good way to control objects in 3DS is to use the track view to assign different type of controllers to the various properties of the object you want to control. For instance, if you want to have small vibrations on the tip of a bird’s wing, you can use a Noise Controller. For this setup, I used the Motion Capture controller.

Shot Online is a Free 3-D Online Golf Game!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Games, Golf, Online Games, Sports, kids by max on the July 3rd, 2008 at 11:41 am

Shot Online is a Free Online Golf Game!

Shot Online, a 3-D online golf gam, has been chosen as an official game of GNGWC 2008.

If you cannot afford to get Tiger Woods for your XBOX360, Nintendo Wii, or Playstation PS3, you might just want to check this game out by downloading here for free.  (The game is available for many different languages too but this one’s for English I think.)

I might try it out later this afternoon and see how well I score. :)

Gamers will feel like they are playing a real golf game on the field with Shot Online, as it has been developed as a full 3D game. Jaesun KIM, a director of OnNet said “our goal when developing the Shot Online was keeping the game within the basic rules of golf, and we are still working to achieve this goal”, showing the intention for Shot Online as a realistic golf game.

GOMY DIY - How to Make a Nintendo Wii Mario Kart Training Wheel!

GTOMH DIY - How to Make a Nintendo Wii Mario Kart Training Wheel!

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

We decided to call DIYs like this GOMY DIYs. (Got too much time On My Hands DIY)

Neverthless, great idea, well executed in just couple pictures.

The Wii Wheel was supposed to make racing easy enough for anyone to jump right into a session of Mario Kart Wii with no prior experience with either traditional game controllers or the Wii Remote. When used properly, it works as expected. The trouble is that it’s not always used properly. Watching your parents try to get through Wario’s Gold Mine, you’ll notice that they’re sometimes holding the Wheel the wrong way, and it’s making them drive off the track into chasms of eternity. This observation led me to examine how Mario Kart Wii’s steering works and come up with a solution for keeping n00bs on track.

Nintendo Wii HACK - Wiimote to MIDI!

Check out this cool wii hack that allows you to use wii controller as a Midi controller!

This is very similar to the Wii guitar but you could probably do more with midi.

Thanks crustea for the tip!

In addition to the traditional buttons, force feedback and the integrated mini-speaker, the true innovation is the presence of a gravity and acceleration sensor (the ADXL330, used in the army or automobile safety, for airbags systems) inside the Wiimote which collects the movements and acceleration of the Wiimote on each of the 3 axis, X, Y et Z.

The good news is that rather than using a proprietary protocol to transmit the infos from the Wiimote to the Wii, and then lock its hardware to keep an exclusive use of it, Nintendo has made the excellent decision (probably by commercial will) to use the Bluetooth protocol, standard of communication on PC and Mac for several years. This means that you can connect your Wiimote to your computer, and program it rather simply for any use you want.
