NYU Student creates DIY Virtual Girlfriend

Posted in Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Jobs by max on the May 19th, 2008 at 11:50 am

NYU Student creates Virtual Girlfriend

NYU Student creates a 2-D virtual girlfriend that will respond to his kisses and movements.  Very interesting, this might good for relaxing 9-5 men who don’t have partners.

It’s simple to behold — a single mattress, tucked into a dark, curtained back room of the showcase space. On it: a lithe brunette. She’s perfectly quiet, but once you sit or lie down, she responds to your every move. Lie on your back, she snuggles up right next to you in a log position. Curl up in the fetal position, she spoons. The only hitch: She’s 2-D. “Yeah, you can’t feel the girl. That’s the thing,” Burrows explained as he demonstrated his invention, an “infrared sensitive” light projection (meaning it reacts, and the projected woman moves, based on an infrared sensor) called INBED. “Still, it’s so nice if you’re tired and worn out to have someone to curl up with.”

The room in a box

Posted in Art, Consumer, Cool, Funny, Gadgets, Household by david on the February 12th, 2008 at 7:00 am

This is a great space saving idea, where everything neatly packs into this small box.

box room

What you get is an armoire, a desk, a height-adjustable stool, two more stools, a six-shelf bookcase, and a bed with a mattress, all in a 31 inch by 47 inch box.

box room

They claim that the contents of the box could be removed and assembled by two people in just ten minutes, with no tools required!

OnEarthTravel.com and our “other” blogs and social networking sites.

Posted in Blog, Consumer, Cool, Travel, Web, Wordpress by max on the March 17th, 2007 at 9:51 pm

OnEarthTravel

We have a new website called OnEarthTravel.com. It’s a website or a blog about travel. My girlfriend’s brother,Bodin, is running this site because he is so into travel.

It seems like we are making a new site every week. Our lives are getting busier and busier and I can’t remember last time hitting a golf ball anymore. Regardless,
we will just have to keep diggin’ along.

Make sure to check out all our other sites when you are bored:

  • Wagg.It - Blog Social Networking site
  • StinkyWorld.com -Social Networking site about collecting the stinkiest news in the world
  • BEDzine.com -Blog about beds
  • SLEEPzine.com - Blog about sleep
  • MATTRESSzine.com - Blog about mattress
  • DaBomb.tv -Blog that collects “da bomb” videos from Youtube, Google Video, Metacafe, Dailymotion, Break, you name it
  • SF Blogg - Blog about things to do in San Francisco (I’ve had no sleep so I am not really doing this blog right now, but maybe in the future when I can rest…)
  • Zedomax Korea - We just opened a new Zedomax just for the Korean audience that my friends over there are going to run.
  • Wagthis.com - An experimental social networking site we made before Wagg.It. We just gave up running it now because it’s so slow but who knows…

Well, hopefully we don’t make any more sites, otherwise we will blog 24/7.

What do we tell each other when not blogging?

Answer is simple.

“Why are you not blogging? You should be blogging!”

That’s right, we’ve gone crazy blogging our minds out we even bought some cheap tables and some nice chairs from IKEA to keep blogging.

So if you are not blogging, you should be.

Our new sweet setup at our apartment is going to be a great blogging platform. We can see Golden Gate bridge from our window here. (Well, we see some “parts” of the Golden gate bridge due to the big ass trees hanging by Lincoln Park Golf course. We will have to take some pictures and update our About page soon. (The worst thing is to live in front of a public golf course and never go play…but we do have a good reason…we are blogging.)

We are starting a Zedomax Blog Network.  If you want to join us, let us know.  The only requirement is that you have to put all of our sites on our blogroll.
We will put you on our blogrolls too on all our sites.  Oh, also your blog needs to be about a different topic than what we have.

For example, we don’t have a food blog or celebrity blog…

Magnetic Floating Bed

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Gadgets, Industrial, magic, photography by max on the February 18th, 2007 at 2:46 pm

Magnetic Floating Bed

Check out this $1.5 Million magnetic floating bed. I wonder if all the magnetic energies are good for your body…

A young Dutch architect has created a floating bed which hovers above the ground through magnetic force and comes with a price tag of 1.2 million euros ($1.54 million).
Janjaap Ruijssenaars took inspiration for the bed — a sleek black platform, which took six years to develop and can double as a dining table or a plinth — from the mysterious monolith in Stanley Kubrick’s 1968 cult film “2001: A Space Odyssey.”

“No matter where you live all architecture is dictated by gravity. I wondered whether you could make an object, a building or a piece of furniture where this is not the case — where another power actually dictates the image,” Ruijssenaars said.

Magnets built into the floor and into the bed itself repel each other, pushing the bed up into the air. Thin steel cables tether the bed in place.

“It is not comfortable at the moment,” admits Ruijssenaars, adding it needs cushions and bedclothes before use.

Although people with piercings should have no problem sleeping on the bed, Ruijssenaars advises them against entering the magnetic field between the bed and the floor.

In a response to ridiculously long mattress names: “They confuse us with silly product names (the Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel Fletcher Ultra Plush Pillowtop or the Sealy Posturepedic Crown Jewel Brookmere Plush?). They flummox us with bogus science (”pocketed coils”? “Microtek foundations”? “Fiberlux”?). And they weigh us down with useless features (silk damask ticking?). It’s like buying a used car, and almost as expensive—I’ve seen mattresses going for $7,000. What’s a consumer to do?”
Yes, this is true, let’s just buy some memory foam and forget the rest.

Interactive Pillow

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets by max on the November 23rd, 2006 at 8:18 pm

Here’s a cool interactive pillow that turns on lights when it senses low-light situations.
Maybe they can take this idea further and integrate it with memory-foam pillows, and
maybe integrate it to memory-foam mattresses
