DIY Hydroponocs - How to Make your own Hydroponics system!

Posted in A+Featured DIYs, Consumer, Cool, DoItYourself!, Educational, Entertainment, Gadgets, Gardening, HOWTO, Projects, home by max on the September 26th, 2008 at 10:33 am

Here’s a cool DIY hydroponics system you can make for growing all types of your favorite plants indoors.

This is a great way to keep your plants constantly filled with nutrients, now don’t burn your house down with lamps that are too powerful.

The air pump has become a staple component in most systems for various reasons. Moving water with air makes complete sense to me while solving several issues and being cheap, reliable and easily serviceable. Pump maintenance is algae free and time will tell just how reliable.

Furniture from Factory Waste!

Furniture for Factory Waste!

Here’s a great way to exemplify how factory waste should be converted into artistic furniture.

Wood waste and off-cuts were collected from factories in Denmark, this collection is made entirely out of the factory waste collected. The pieces were put together to form a wood patchwork before they were made into; a chair, a book box and a series of 12 lamps.

DIY - How to Make an MP3 Lamp!

DIY - How to Make an MP3 Lamp!

You know, MP3 lamps are great since they integrate MP3 files, sound, and lamp all into one!

Here’s how to make your very own MP3 lamp.

It all started on moving day July first au eight. While helping my sister move, I spotted a discarded Ikea TerTial. Turns out the switch was broken, that made me happy, I hate those twist switches and I will get to mount a switch of my choice. But I wanted to do more, then came the idea of adding a set of speakers to it.

Lights Made from Recycled Plastic Bottles!

Wow, check out this collection of great lights all made from recycled plastic bottles!

By using a specially perfected process which hardens the recycled plastic bottles, THIS Gallery have made a whole series of lights and lamps, which initially look nothing like a load of old plastic bottles but they are and when you consider that each light fitting uses something in the region of thirty five and fifty five bottles, quite saving for the land fill!

Bulbcap for Naked Bulbs!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Entertainment, Funny, Gadgets, Household, lights by max on the June 17th, 2008 at 10:42 am

Bulbcap for Naked Bulbs!

Can’t afford a real lamp shade but you want a condom-like cover for your naked bulbs?

Well, you can always get the Bulbcap for that. They come in different colors so…

The Bulbcap is a lampshade, slightly more than a lightbulb. The caps are directly pulled over the lightbulbs of up to 40 watts. Any wattage can work when using economical lightbulbs. The Bulbcaps can be fixed on hanging bulbs from the ceiling, or on standing lamps of any kind. Mix and match various colors to create a collage of lights!

DIY - How to Make a Cork Lamp!

DIY - How to Make a Cork Lamp!

This has to be “da” coolest lamp I’ve seen in a freakin’ long ass freakin’ time!

Kate over at Design Sponge shows you how to make one yourself.

ever since i saw one on a bedside table in domino magazine, i have been in love with and searching for vintage cork lamps. they are hard to find though, and often pretty expensive, so i finally decided to try to make one! i was looking for bases that had a nice modern shape, and surprisingly i found them both at ikea, in the form of a garden pot (upside down) and two cutlery drying caddies taped together! you could really use any base you wanted, as long as you can drill a hole in the top for the lamp kit.

DIY - How to Make a Petal Lamp!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Design, DoItYourself!, Gadgets, HOWTO, Household, lights by max on the May 24th, 2008 at 9:16 am

Here’s a great DIY showing you how to turn an ordinary IKEA pendant lamp into a petal lamp!

these are two versions of modified ikea lamps, inspired by several designers i’ve seen over the years that use felt to create amazing textures. felt is inexpensive, easy to work with, and comes in a lot of great colors. i love how you can mold it and it will stay in place, almost like clay. these are also a fun project to share with kids since it involves cutting out hundreds of felt circles!

The Colago Lamp or is it Hangman Lamp?

Posted in Consumer, Design, Funny, Gadgets by max on the May 8th, 2008 at 12:33 pm

The Colago Lamp or is it Hangman Lamp?

Here’s the most depressing lamp in the world.  Perhaps, it will balance out those people who are super-positive.

The Colago aka the Hangman Lamp is one the most positively morbid lamps I have ever come across! Not for the faint-hearted, the lamp is the brainchild of Spanish studio enPieza whose site makes an interesting read. The lamp has been handmade and materials used electric wire and iron.
