iPhone Modem App is here and I am not impressed!

iPhone modem application is here, which can turn your jailbroken iPhone into a broadband modem for your laptop or PC.
Why am I not impressed?
Well, this should be a standard feature on the iPhone. Why should consumers have to go through the trouble of jailbreaking their phone?
Plus, AT&T’s broadband modem has proven to really suck in comparison to Sprint and Verizon.
Personally, I have a Blackberry 8830, which easily becomes a broadband modem using a USB connector.
In comparison to another PCMCIA broadband modem I have from Sprint, the speeds are about the same even with the Blackberry modem setup.
So what?
I don’t even have to try the iPhone Modem App, it can’t be faster than iPhone itself so it’s gotta be really really, really sloooowwww.
Now what?
If you are serious about doing business on the go, get a Blackberry, otherwise you can stick with your too-slow-iPhone-even-with-3G.
Have a great sunday. :p

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!
Google Chrome Hacks Blog was launched today.
We had to settle on Chrome-hacks.net although we wanted to get Chromehacks.com.
We will be doing a lot of posts on the latest tips, hacks, and other news just for the Google Chrome browser so make sure to subscribe to RSS feed.
For the mother of God and for whatever reason, we just launched another new blog, of course it’s called Google Chrome Hacks Blog.
Basically, the blog will cover all kinds of tips, hacks, and news about the new Google Chrome Browser.
It took us exactly 2 hours to sign up for a domain name at godaddy, stuff it with Wordpress plugins and themes, write 5 blog posts. (Not too bad of a start ey?)
New blogs are always great opportunities to pounce on, especially if it’s new technology.
Where did we get the idea for Google Chrome Hacks Blog?
Well, you should take a looky at iphone-hacks.com and their stats. (It’s like they simply took a knife and stuck it on a whale before the it leaped)

iPhone HACK - How to Unlock iPhone 3G with SIMable!

SIMable can unlock iPhone 3G!
SIMable is a little chip you can put on your SIM card/chip to unlock your phone. Apparently, you can use this for unlocking a iPhone 3G.
I have tried every option so far and none of them worked but I got a sample pack a few weeks ago from SIMable and decided to try that, it worked first time and with a little bit of chopping and changing I have the phone running on 3G vodafone.

DIY iPhone HACK - How to get “Focus” dial for your iPhone’s Camera!

DIY iPhone HACK - How to get

Whether you have the original iPhone or the new iPhone 3G, you are in luck because there’s a hack to allow focusing of the camera simply by removing some glue after you hack it open.
This glue was applied at the two indented points on opposite sides of the camera as indicated, but is rather rubbery. I found that slicing lightly along the division and then scraping with the backside of the blade, I could remove almost all visible glue (it may leave light marks, but as long as some “crumbs” of the rubber glue come out, you should be fine. Now, you may be able to rotate the inner assembly by hand if none seeped in further, but if it still won’t budge, try grasping the raised area with protruding “grip” sections with the pliers and rotate clockwise gently. It should break free, and now be turnable by finger. Rotating counterclockwise makes closer objects in focus, while rotating clockwise goes back out.
On both the first-gen and 3G, you can use the camera app to give a live preview.

iPhone Illusions with this funny walking Alien App!

Here’s a slight illusionary work with the iPhone, a funny walking Alien App.
Created by David O’Reilly, iHologram combines anamorphosis and the iPhone’s gyroscopes to achieve this awesome visual magic trick. Anamorphosis is a way to draw things distorted so, while watched at a certain angle, they pop out of the 2D surface as if they were real.
David’s application assumes a constant viewing angle of 35 to 45 degrees, which is the usual angle when anyone watches the iPhone screen. Knowing that angle, the application calculates the orientation of the screen relative to the viewer using the iPhone’s motion sensors, so when you turn it around, the 3D world perspective gets skewed accordingly.

Watch Videos on the iPhone while Driving!(reflected off the dashboard of course)

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode
Here’s a great idea for watching movies while driving using the iPhone. Of course, if you get in an accident while doing so, don’t blame me. I only told you that you “could”, but not that you “should” do that.
Now, it might be a good idea to use GoogleMaps on that dashboard if you don’t want to watch movies but drive efficiently to your destination.
Why don’t I feel better because he usually only uses his headset in one ear “so that I can hear the traffic and whatnot?”
