HTC Touch Diamond runs Opera like the iPhone!

Althought I though it was going to have another horrible Windows mobile browser, this video proves that it may have something more to offer. The new HTC Touch Diamond will let you take full power of Opera browser.

The Diamomd is touted for its “next generation Internet browser”. When announcing it, HTC claimed it delivers “desktop experience instead of desktop-like” and their words were almost the pure truth. Based on Opera, the browser is times better than the pocket Internet Explorer found on other Windows Mobile phones. The IE is usable, but very uncomfortable, while the Opera is almost excellent.

Meccano Spykee Cell Robot with iPod/iPhone Dock and Speakers and control it with your iPhone!

Lol, this is a great gizmo. You can control the robot via Bluetooth, change music, or even move the robot. iPod-World is taking pre-orders of this item, I’d get one if it was available in the US. Even better, they might just send us a sample?

iPod World is taking pre-order for the Meccano Spyke Cell Robot, an amazing robot which has iPod/iPhone dock and stereo speakers. You control the robot and your iPod wirelessly by using your cell phone via Bluetooth technology to change tunes, move the robot, take picture and send them to your cell phone… It costs £159.99.

Use Cooliris’s PicLens Firefox Plugin to browse images, videos like an iPhone!

Use Cooliris\'s Firefox Plugin to browse images, videos like an iPhone!

Cooliris’s PicLens brings you the web in a completely 3D format. You can go to your favorite sites like Flickr, Google image search, among the many major services you can use. You can even browse YouTube videos in 3D using their search function, which is nice.

It’s like having an iPhone version of viewing the web on your computer. If you get bored of traditional browsing, I definitely recommend to try this route for a change for images and videos.

Thanks to Sally over at Cooliris for the tip.

PicLens instantly transforms your browser into a full-screen media experience. With just one click, PicLens makes photos come to life via a cinematic presentation that goes beyond the confines of the traditional browser window. Available for Firefox (Windows and Mac)

Go download and try it

Egg Phone!

Egg Phone!

Check out this awesome Egg Phone! Roman Tubl has designed this phone, possibly a good competitor to the iPhone. The egg shape will help the phone from being more friendly to human hands.

Designer Roman Tubl wasn’t concerned with integrating the latest and greatest in his EGG mobile phone concept. He just wanted something functional and easy to use with some eye candy for people who like their phones flashy - literally.

The iPhone Gets Its Own Photo Sharing Site

Posted in Consumer, Web, WebApp, cell phones, iPhone, photography by max on the May 6th, 2008 at 6:59 am

The iPhone Gets Its Own Photo Sharing Site

Natuba is a photo sharing site for iPhone users. Looks like this targetted marketing could work but of course, there are many other online services that let you do the same thing Natuba does already. Too bad they didnt’ take care of tagging, a must in a new Web2.0 service. Regardless, you can tell us how well it works with your iPhone.

iPhone users with Natuba accounts can add their snapshots to the site by emailing them to a special address. Descriptions can be included in the subject line and all photos are injected into a public activity stream. They are also included on one’s profile page and are candidates for the “Surprise Me!” page that randomly displays one photo at a time from the site.

The idea and execution are simple, perhaps a bit too simple. There’s no tagging, not to mention no geotagging (which would be a natural feature for such a service, if only iPhones had GPS already). I’d like to see the site add rating capabilities so the community can surface the best snapshots. After all, highlighting the coolest little encounters from daily life should be the site’s main thrust; no one wants to sift through the mundane.

HTC Diamond, is this for real now?

Posted in Consumer, Design, Gadgets, cell phones by max on the May 5th, 2008 at 12:28 pm

HTC Diamond, is this for real now?

Ever since the invent of iPhones, most other cellphone manufacturers have become obsolete in terms of “web browsing” capability.  HTC, usually based on Windows Mobile, have kept surprising me with their outdated mobile IE browser that does not support any of Web2.0 technologies including AJAX.

Well, as a previous owner of HTC, I hope they finally move onto another mobile OS platform like the Android from Google, or they will ultimately fail to capture attention of fast-movers like me.  Their sales still comes from 90% of Asian population or non-techies that don’t know jack about browsing on the go.

Looks are not everything, performance has to come with it.

The first “official” photos and specs for the HTC Diamond have been leaked, complete with a 640 x 480 pixel screen (twice the lines of the iPhone in smaller surface) and 3G connectivity. Could this be the most important product of the year HTC said it would reveal in London on Tuesday?

Click Here to View in Full Screen Mode

Yey, it looks like iPhone Video Recorder is now available.

My friend just started blogging again, please click here and check out his cool blog if you got time.

Check out the features:

iPhone Video Recorder is a powerful iPhone oriented video recorder produced by DreamCatcher. iPhone Video Recorder records audio and video to the compressed mpeg4 format, so the recording is space saving, an-hour-high-quality recording will be a file as small as 60MB. iPhone Video Recorder boasts a frame rate up to 15fps which guarantees better recording performance . With iPhone Video Recorder, recording is easy and enjoyable, you may play back the video, download it to a computer, or send it out by email as you wish.

Due to the great consumption demand on iPhone CPU for dynamic encoding, it is hard to maintain a high frame rate on the fly encoding. Therefore, we turn to a postponed encoding method. You may record now and encode the recording later. The video data is already on your iPhone’s disc, and you may resume encoding when you are convenient. Besides, we offer a few more encoding methods for customers to choose from. On the fly encoding is also available and the sound is good yet the frame rate will be reduced considerably.
