Here’s a cool DIY on how to make an iPhone dock with binder clips!

Here it is boiled down into just 61 words: Clamp a medium sized clip to the iPod end of your cable, connector side out. Remove the wire handles and tuck the cable along the fat edge. Take a bigger clip and clamp that onto the smaller one, so that the cable runs between the gap. Remove the handles. Add iPod. Try not to knock it over and break the connector.

SIMable can unlock iPhone 3G!

SIMable can unlock iPhone 3G!

SIMable is a little chip you can put on your SIM card/chip to unlock your phone.  Apparently, you can use this for unlocking a iPhone 3G.

I have tried every option so far and none of them worked but I got a sample pack a few weeks ago from SIMable and decided to try that, it worked first time and with a little bit of chopping and changing I have the phone running on 3G vodafone.

iPhone HACK - 12 iPhone Tricks you need to know!

Here’s a cool blog post I found today that shows you 12 shortcuts for using the iPhone/iPod Touch.  Basically, they are mostly Safari shortcuts that you might not have known about.

Here’s one for example that will save you time scrolling back up to the top:

In any application, Safari included, you can automatically scroll to the top of the page by tapping on the “top bar”, which has the time, service bars, and battery. In Safari, this not only brings you to the top of the page, but also brings up the URL bar.

iPhone Hack - How to Build a Bluetooth Handgun Handset for your iPhone!

Here’s a really pointless but fun DIY for building a bluetooth handgun that will answer your calls at the pull of the trigger.  Great, all that for answering a phone?  Isn’t it a little too much reverse-engineering?

How to turn an airsoft handgun and a bluetooth headset into a fun, fully functional handset for your iPhone. Pull the trigger to receive calls and to, um, end them. Listen through the barrel, and talk into the grip.

I think everyone has made the thumb and forefinger gun-to-the-head sign when someone unpleasant shows up on their caller ID. Eli and I thought it would be fun to make an actual gun handset, and it turned out to be surprisingly straightforward. No glue or powertools were required.

iPhone Hack - Use iRemember to remember your Cookies!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, HOWTO, Hack, Safari, browser, cell phones, iPhone by max on the June 24th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

If you encounter cookie dumbness on your iPhone, you can use iRemember to remember your cookies so you don’t have to keep signing up for the same services you use everyday.

Safari on the iPhone has a little problem that it doesn’t save usernames and passwords when you have entered them. iRemember fixes this little issue by allowing Safari to save cookies. This is a must have little mod that will save you quite some time when entering usernames and passwords.

iPhone HACK - Get the latest Jailbreak v.1.1.2 and hack your iPhone!

Posted in Audio, Consumer, Cool, Gadgets, Hack by max on the November 13th, 2007 at 12:16 am

Check out this cool new Jailbreak v.1.1.2 for your iPhone. I am not sure what kind of features you get for installing this Jailbreak OS but does seem like a fun thing to do if you have couple iPhones laying around.

Conceited Software has just released an updated version of “TouchFree” GUI based to Jailbreak the latest iPhone firmware v1.1.2 and now works on Windows as well as both Mac (though Intel-based only).

However, the catch here is that for it to work you need to first run OktoPrep on iPhone v1.1.1 and then upgrade to 1.1.2. The entire JailBreaking process takes approximatley 10 minutes and as per Erica Sudan retrieves data off your iPhone or iPod Touch, upgrades it with the JailBreak, also installs the cool Installer.app and SSH.app and reloads it back to your iPhone or iPod Touch.

So for it to work you will first need to have your iPhone or iPod Touch running on firmware v1.1.1 and Jailbroken with Installer.app installed so that you can install OktoPrep which is available via the Installer App.

iPhone HACK - iPhone Voice Recorder

iPhone HACK - iPhone Voice Recorder

Check out this cool home brewed iPhone Voice Recorder. Tight.

My iPhone broke. The screen just died a slow death, getting brighter and brighter and then very hot and then…nothing…over the course of a morning. With no phone to play with this morning, I did a lot of thinking and hunting through iPhone foundation files instead. And I seemed to find quite a lot of interesting calls in the Celestial framework, specifically the AVRecorder class.
