Check out the Rotating House! They must have put a lot of work on it. Think about all the water pipes, electrical wires, and etc… that’s rotating with it…
The Everingham rotating house is a 24-metre diameter octagon with a 3-metre, 360-degree verandah. The exterior walls are mostly glass and steel, and it has a COLORBOND® roof.
The entire structure, weighing approximately 50 tonnes, rotates up to 360-degrees if and when desired, within a 180 degree retainer wall and a 180 degree fixed deck and railing.
The concept is the result of nearly a decade of intermittent research, planning and design, and ten months of construction over a two year period consuming all disposable time. The project was completed in March 2006.

Holy cow, check these guys out, they made cool homemade rockets that almost resemble powerful bottle rockets!
This is the first static test with our homemade tar/oxygen hybrid rocket motor. James Turner and myself (Eric Stackpole), and two of our friends, Jeff Bernard and Caleb Lesher did this project last summer because we wanted to learn more about how rocket engines work. We built the rocket in James’ garage in Humboldt County, CA completely out of parts we got at the local hardware store. We had previously done a little over 20 tests with polyethylene, but none of them came close to this having much power (note the shaking of the camera when the rocket fires.)

Check out this rolling wind tunnel that goes 180MPH! It looks insane! (What happens if there’s failure? Will the race car just fly off there?!?)
Haas CNC Racing NASCAR team owner Gene Haas in conjunction with Jacobs Engineering has created the first rolling road testing facility in the United States known as WindShear Inc. The one-millimeter thick continuous steel belt will roll at over 180mph, and features sensors under the bed that can take readings at each wheel. At top speed the wind tunnel fan will circulate 2.85 million cubic feet of air per minute! The facility will be available for rental to motorsports teams and manufacturers when it opens later this year.

Oh boy, I am looking forward to this cool giant nose picking machine powered by human hamster wheels! (at the Maker Faire)
Here’s a fun interactive toy in the Rube Goldberg style. The “coin” is a 10′ human hamster wheel. Participants walk on the wheel. This turns a pulley which turns a large disc from an electrical spool which lifts a see-saw lever which lifts an “arm” which twists a finger into the nose of a 12 foot face suspended on a 23 foot tower.

These things have been around South Korea for last couple years. It’s a wheel style robot parking system. You can find your car by pushing on the touchscreen menus to retrieve your car. I’ve actually worked with couple people at my work trying to make touchscreen control systems before and these things are great for any big cities. I am just surprised there are practically none in San Fran. Bummer… Let me see if I can find more cool videos on these wheels style robot parking systems…
I saw this in Gangnam and thought it was a great way to maximize a tight space.

Check out this cool robot mower, LawnBott. There’s also Robomow, which is very similar. If you are lazy and like robots, you might want to give these a try on your next lawn mowing…
The LawnBott LB2000 Professional Robot Mower is a fully autonomous , the LB2000 model will cut your grass every day, leaving its home docking station as programmed, cutting your lawn for up 3 hours, and then returning to its docking station as its battery gets low, all on its own. After it recharges itself, the LB2000 will leave the docking station all by itself and cut again. You will now be able to enjoy your week-ends!

I went to the Silicon Valley Electronics Fleamarket in San Jose this morning. It was great, I wanted to buy everything! I was too busy looking at all the cool stuff to actually buy much. I’m definitely going to this every time they have it…next one is May 12th, 5am to noon. Here’s a Flickr photoset with some pictures and comments from the fleamarket.
