Newest Navy Aircraft Unveiled by Northrop Grumman

Oooh, this is a cool plane

t the heart of the aircraft is the new radar, the APY-9, designed and built by Lockheed Martin Corporation. It can “see” smaller targets and more of them at greater ranges than the E-2C. The new rotodome, developed by L-3 Communications Randtron Antenna Systems, contains the critically important, continuous, 360-degree scanning capability, while adding an electronically scanned array. This system allows operators to focus the radar on selected areas of interest.

DIY - Z glass house and cool house plans!

Z glass house 1

Z glass house 2

Check out some of these cool house plans you buy before building your own vacation home! Above it my favorite, the Z-Glass House. It looks modern and very stylish yet retains a minimalist look. Nothing can justify minimal things especially in this material world we live in. (As a rule, I try to only have 2 glasses, silverware, and only 2 plates at my house)

Yes, one day if our blog network is worth $33 million like weblogs inc or somethin’, I will be able to afford a dream house, well small dream house, I just need somethin’ simple you know and build a homeless foundation in sf.

Thanks John C Donell for the link! :)

P.S. Soju helps you blog better on top of our other tips for blogging.

Oh yeah, make sure to check out brother-in-law blog, Bedzine for all your furniture stuff for your new vacation house and current house…

Wind Power from Highways

Wind Power from Highways

Wind Power from Highways2

Here’s a great concept for re-using the wind generated from cars racing on the highways. Great idea! Save earth and peace!

Average vehicle speeds on the valley highways are approximately 70 mph. Using average annual wind speeds of 10 mph as a baseline, each single wind turbine will produce 9,600KwH of energy, annually (enough to fully power my 700 s.f. apartment). This power production estimate will increase exponentially with an increase in wind turbulence speed. I believe that the wind stream created over the freeways by our primary mode of transportation will create an average annual wind speed well beyond the baseline of 10 mph.

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Earth, Educational, Energy, Gadgets, Industrial by max on the May 2nd, 2007 at 5:17 am

Solar Hot Water

Check out this site for information on installation and the works behind solar hot water heaters that might actually save you big bucks and save the earth at the same time.

Some of the key benifits:

  • Eliminate 80 to 95% of your water heating bill.
  • Constantly increase savings in a non-taxable income.
  • Your home’s equity value increases with your investment.
  • Income generator that keeps producing a positive non-taxable cash flow to you.
  • Uses non-polluting free solar energy.
  • Doubles the amount of hot water available.

Yeah, if you live in California or any of the south-west states, go get it and start savin’

DIY HACK - Robotic DAT Tape Loader

Robotic DAT Tape Loader

Robotic DAT Tape Loader 2

Here’s a really cool DAT backup tape loader robot that being worked on. This might be a great way to automate your server backups especially if you own a hosting company.

Thanks to D. Wilstar for the link!

This is another cheap project, useful to those peoples too lazy to change backup tapes every night (If You said “What’s Backup?” please stop reading! :-) )
This project is less “art attack” than my homemade CNC. There is, indeed, a plan (well, sort of…) drawn with Google SketckUp (actually drawn BEFORE construction, and not AFTER, like I usually do :-) ).
Almost all mechanical components used can be salvaged parts, or can be bought in a hardware store.
