Yey, at last a hydrongen fuel-cell powered electric plane that can do top speeds of 62mph!

Not your jet plane but still, you are flying very efficiently.

The plane is based on a two-seat Dimona motor-glider frame with a 16.3 metre (53.5 feet) wingspan. It was modified by BR&TE to incorporate a hybrid low emission engine, containing Intelligent Energy’s power dense Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell power system and lithium-ion batteries, to power an electric motor coupled to a conventional propeller.

Three test flights took place in February and March at an airfield near Madrid. Each time, the pilot climbed to an altitude of 1,000 metres(3,300 feet) above sea level using a combination of battery power and power generated by the hydrogen fuel cells, and continued in a straight path at the cruising altitude for 20 minutes at a speed of 100 km per hour (62 miles per hour) on power solely generated by the fuel cells.

As a owner of a Suzuki GSX-R600 which does 0 to 60 in about 3.4 seconds (ahem…), I love this new Suzuki!!!

Well, I don’t think Bikes have to be more eco-friendly than they are right now at 50MPG (ahem….), but it’s a good thing I guess if your motorcycle can run on hydrogen fuel cells too.

The good folks at Suzuki are serious about going green and have been spotted testing their latest concept, the Suzuki Crosscage Hydrogen Fuel Cell Motorcycle. With no gears, no noise, no clutch and no emissions, this hydrogen fuel cell / electric hybrid two-wheeler just might be the future of motorcycles and is closer to reality than you might think. Seriously, there is a guy riding one in these pictures, you won’t hear it coming, but it is.
