Nintendo DS Midi HACK!
Okay…hackaday has found a nintendo ds midi hack for you…try it if you need it,
otherwise, check out our other stories!
This is what German hacker/student/musician Tob, who created the cool NitroTracker old-school tracker app for the DS has been working on: Software to turn put easy-to-use MIDI into the Nintendo DS using WiFi. Previously, you’ve had to use hardware. The DS obviously sucks as a keyboard, but is great as a little X-Y controller like a Kaoss Pad, and presumably there’s no reason why he can’t build a simple XOX drum programmer, a little Lemur clone, or even a virtual Monome. Tob is still developing the software - as you can see from the video, it’s in a pretty early stage - but it will be released ASAP. And even if you don’t have a DS, stick with this video long enough to hear the guy playing ‘We Will Rock You’ though the onboard sounds… (via the wonderful Robot Porn blog, which is currently building a MIDI Keytar. Thanks Philip)
Control your XBOX with a PSP
Yes here’s how you can control your XBOX with a PSP, but do you really need to do that?
We think it’s pointless, but then, if you are a techno-geek with all kinds of game hardware
you can get your hands on for free, we don’t see why not. So the overview is, this is
a useful technology for people with XBOX and PSP. But I would rather get a PS3…
don’t need no stinkin’ sensor bar
Yes sensor bar is simply an array of IR Leds, really easy to make but the real sensor probably communicated using bluetooth or rf with some commands of some sort. Let’s see what the future has for hacking the wii!
Yes, we don’t need a stinkin’ sensor bar, we need a complete analysis of the communication protocol of the wireless wii controller!
DIY Video - Homemade Cathode Ray Tube
Here’s an interesting project making a cathode ray tube from scratch.
There are some interesting things you can do with it such as making a cathode ray oscilloscope.
Cool, huh?
DIY - Message Machine for your Pets

Here’s a cool message machine you can make for your dog or cat to let him or her know “you are on the way”, “talk to me”, or “XO” (kisskiss i think). Interesting to note that this is for a “wireless toy” midterm? Wow, things have changed a lot since last time I was in college. That doesn’t sound like midterm at all, looks fun!
Chatter uses the Plushie Message Framework (chat-parsing script to Arduino to wireless module) to send selected instant messages from your computer to the message pillow. Often times I leave my message client open just to get that “emotional check-in” or other brief snippet from my sweetheart, but I don’t want messages from anyone else. With the Chatter Pillow, I just alter a few parameters in the script to filter all but three messages from him: “xo,” “on my way,” and “talk to me.” That way I can be on the couch or ready for bed and still get the message. The pillow lights up with the appropriate symbol indicating whether he’ll be home soon or if I should make my way to the computer to answer a question.
PaintBall MachineGUN!

Cool paintball machine gun! You will have harder time running away next time you are in the paintball field.
Every so I often I Google “paintball minigun“. This time it actually turned up something good. Special effects builder Rick Galinson has been working on a… wait for it… paintball minigun (cache). There is a video of a dry fire run on his site. He’s apparently having trouble with the triggers; I just want to know how he plans on loading it.
Rick has a lot of other cool projects. He’s got a cool two arm minigun prop (cache) (looks like Monev the Gale), A remote controlled submarine (cache), and a really cool telemetry suit (cache) for collecting upper body movement data.
For completeness’ sake you can check out Monty’s Miniguns for information on other paintball miniguns and miniguns in general.
DIY Games - XGamestation
I’ve seen this XGamestation around for awhile, you can easily make a NES quality game to play on your TV.

DIY HOWTO - PUT Wikipedia on your IPOD!
Here’s an awesome DIY HACK on howto put wikipedia on your ipod!
I’ve commented now and again that I’d be willing to pay upwards of $100 for a handheld version of Wikipedia — one that I can sync via WiFi, then take on the bus and read to my heart’s content. Unfortunately, the market doesn’t seem to be responding to my lone cry… so I wrote a Perl script that loads Wikipedia onto my iPod.
Here a link to database download of Wikipedia for CDs, PSPs, and other gadgets.
Garrett’s DIY - Upcoming Boe-Bot Hacks - Remote Controlled Insect
Here’s a video of upcoming boe-bot hacks from Garrett using a Parallax Boe-Bot platform and CUBLOC CB220.as brain. This little creature has couple of cool looking features such as a tail, antennas, and eyes that can be remote-controlled via a regular TV remote-control. HOWTO will follow soon. In the meanwhile, you will just have to enjoy Jackie decorating Garrett’s remote controlled insect…
