Google intros Android nearing the final version!

After months since Google’s new mobile operating system Android become public, they have improved on their Android even further.  Their new Android handset was shown in the U.K. to demonstrate the potential of the Google operating system.

The good news is that we might start seeing Android, real soon, soon as the next 2 weeks from T-mobile.

Here’s some recent news around the globe about the Google Android:

Google shows off final Android:

The new handset, shown off by Google’s Mike Jennings at Wembley Stadium, looked very much like the HTC Dream, but had its branding covered up. Jennings demonstrated Google maps, though there was no Street View data of London (if that feature will be available, it’s very exciting). Jennings also spoke about carriers: “a lot of [them] are in a different mindset from Google.”

Android handsets hits London

Jennings gave a nice demonstration of an OpenGL and Java application that showed a cube morphing and rotating. I’d run the same application on my own PC in the office, and this was running far smoother on a mobile handset. 40 frames per second, claimed Jennings. It’s impressive stuff.

T-mobile may sell Android handsets in just 2 weeks

Deutsche Telekom’s T-Mobile USA unit will start selling a mobile phone that uses Google’s Android software within weeks, said two people with firsthand knowledge of the plan.

The two companies plan to present details of the release Sept. 23 in New York, said the people, who declined to be identified as preparations are confidential. The handset will be a smartphone, which allows users to surf the Web more quickly, check e-mails, send and view videos and download music and maps.

HP shifting focus to Linux in order to get over Vista Unpopularity!

HP shifting focus to Linux in order to get over Vista Unpopularity!

HP shifting focus to Linux in order to get over Vista Unpopularity!

Well, I am not a big fan of Vista, maybe XP at the least, but here’s another great news that HP might be using Linux to increase sales while not having to deal with Vista’s unpopularity.

If you have noticed, many computer manufacturers including HP, Dell, and others who have been putting the sign, “This company recommends Vista”.

Now, that’s what I don’t get.  How could companies expect to increase computer sales while recommending Vista, an operating system touted to be more incompatible than their previous sibling, Windows XP.

With all that out there, HP is finally shifting its focus to provide fully-installed Linux systems which will save the consumers about $100-200 over Vista.  (That’s right, you no longer have to pay for what you don’t use)

Since Linux OS is free, consumers can pretty much get the Linux version and simply install Windows XP to get going instead of having to deal with Vista’s horrible uninstallation process.

Already, Google has proved the value of Linux operating system through its Android developement.

Mind you, Linux operating system has been developed nicely by the open source crowd for the last 10 years to one day beat out Windows out of the market. Yey!

According to Businesweek, HP has been quietly working on two projects aimed at bypassing unpopular features in Vista and possibly competing with Apple down the line. The first involves developing software that modifies Vista to make it easier to use. That much has been confirmed. However, rumor has it that a second “Skunk Works” operation has been going on behind closed doors that has a much loftier goal—building a customized replacement OS based on the Linux platform.

Google Rocket might give Google Maps better resolution!

Posted in Consumer, Cool, Educational, Gadgets, Industrial, News by max on the September 8th, 2008 at 1:22 pm
Google Rocket might give Google Maps better resolution!

Google Rocket might give Google Maps better resolution!

Imagine that you could be using GoogleMaps to watch your neighbor’s latest backyard construction in real-time with a resolution as close as seeing your hands close-up.  With the new launch of Google’s partnership with Boeing to launch a new satellite, this might not happen but definitely the resolution of GoogleMaps and its zoom level might get much better than it is.

Of course, there might be more people suing Google for privacy issues but hey, at least we KNOW that North Korea will not be launching a nuclear weapon anytime soon with all the people in the world watching every details of it.

Google has taken the war over exclusive web content into space. Not directly, of course—the satellite that was recently launched into space on a rocket bearing the Google logo was the result of a joint venture between a commercial satellite imaging provider and the department of defense. In return for undisclosed terms, Google got two considerations: its logo on the side of the launch vehicle, and exclusive use of the mapping images that the satellite produces.

The partnerships in the new satellite are extensive. The hardware was built by General Dynamics and put in orbit by Boeing; the funding for the project came in part from a commercial satellite imaging company, Geoeye. The rest of the funding came from the Defense Department’s National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, which provides map-based intelligence resources. The launch took place yesterday from the Air Force’s Vandenberg Air Force Base in California.

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!

Google Chrome Hacks Blog Launched!

Google Chrome Hacks Blog was launched today.

We had to settle on Chrome-hacks.net although we wanted to get Chromehacks.com.

We will be doing a lot of posts on the latest tips, hacks, and other news just for the Google Chrome browser so make sure to subscribe to RSS feed.

For the mother of God and for whatever reason, we just launched another new blog, of course it’s called Google Chrome Hacks Blog.

Basically, the blog will cover all kinds of tips, hacks, and news about the new Google Chrome Browser.

It took us exactly 2 hours to sign up for a domain name at godaddy, stuff it with Wordpress plugins and themes, write 5 blog posts.  (Not too bad of a start ey?)

New blogs are always great opportunities to pounce on, especially if it’s new technology.

Where did we get the idea for Google Chrome Hacks Blog?

Well, you should take a looky at iphone-hacks.com and their stats.  (It’s like they simply took a knife and stuck it on a whale before the it leaped)
